Does anyone else think we won't be seeing a return of the sub-job system in XIV? From what we've heard so far, it seems somewhat unlikely.
Yeah, your inclination is most likely correct. They said at one of the E3 interviews that it wouldn't really be a sub job system, but something different. I've found some really good information at http://petfoodalpha.com/ and http://limitbreakradio.com/ . Be sure to check anything linked there. Or, it seems there's that the folks at FFXI wiki have already launched one for 'XIV. Those guys are really on the ball: http://www.eorzeapedia.com/I have to agree, some surprisingly good ideas there Tree' had. I like all of them. Some kind of natural forced crit, I would like. Maybe they should have it so that our sa/ta forced crits can be done from any direction. However, I really really like Tree's idea of debuffs via rear attacks. Any sudden unexpected thiefy action would be nice. A stunning stab right in the back, a disabling slice to the ankles, a stunning attack to the back of the skull, a jumping foot plant right in the face. I think they should have something like, instead of doing such an sa buff and just standing there and waiting on your delay, it's more like a WS in that it targets the enemy. Perhaps something like a lock on from behind, and when you use it you zoom forward locked on to the enemies back and thrust in like that. They could adjust effective radius, dashing speed/distance, or accuracy as you level/merit/upgrade your sword/armor, etc. I think we'll see something much different and more specially involved this time around mainly because I expect it to run at high speed transfer rather than 56k.
WoW has shouts, yes? Something like shouts for CC could work, I imagine. Maybe like a shout/taunt for thf and one for war. I imagine thf could do some sort of shout that generates a small amount of enmity on mobs within a given radius, and as Tree' said, this could be combined with Flee as a form of Crowd Control.
SE has said they're reading forums more and more often. Hopefully they'll check out a bit more of KI, but I doubt it >,<
