There was no "useless" job in FFXI. The ones who say a job is useless are the idiots who have no idea how to play it themselves and can only play the iWin button jobs.

God forbid they actually have to work and try on some other jobs to be just as effective!


That aside.

1) No. It was cute, but as October said before, I want nothing to do with the new generation of summoners. Nearly all the bosses in FFXI were summoners. They wiped entire alliances in one attack. SMN gets wiped in one attack by a Too Weak mob. Their pets hit weaker than a Too Weak mob. Heal tank is all they are good at. Now, healing isn't useless, but it's far and away what the job should've been. We all know S-E said they didn't intend for NIN to be a tank, and that the playerbase made it a tank. Just like players made SMN a healtank, and not a buff and dps class. Summon titan for EW or Garuda for AA? NOT IN MY PARTY! /kick SMN. /sh "LF1M SMN who knows not to summon and just heal".

2) I already quite FFXI when my account was hijacked. Waiting on FFXIV.

3) I hope windower stays in FFXI and does not come to FFXIV. The last thing we need is another fiasco with bans due to windower again. We also don't need people confusing the download source and instead downloading a keylogger or something stupid again. No drama. Windower guys stay the fuck away from FFXIV.

I'm gonna break down some of your points.

Wiped in one attack by a Too Weak mob: FUCKING TAKE OFF YOUR -hp/+mp GEAR YOU IDIOT.
Pets hit weaker than a Too Weak mob: If you're perpetuating to melee, unless you're kiting, farming, or in campaign; you're doing it wrong.
Heal tank is all they are good at: You need to learn more about smn abilities, but I guess it's too late since you were stupid enough to let your account get haxed.
Players made smn a heal tank... yeah, those days are long gone and was never as bad as you may think. Even as a 'heal tank' I used plenty of bloodpact abilities. They're fucking useful.
Players kicking for a summoner summoning... the fuck? If they're that retarded, they're probably not gonna get very good exp anyway. I've also never encountered that. Quite the opposite, I've had people bring me BACK to parties because I was more than just a heal tank.

Ive had that aswell although 1 time it sorta backfired on me, I was 60+ish and got invited to a party with Rng DD and a Rdm that was keeping tank hasted refreshed etc
all I did that party was Fenrirs Stat+ and Shiva's Blizzard 4 (which got resisted alot)
while it was nice to be actually Told to DD having poor options at the time sucked
although at 70+ me and a bunch of other summoners took over caedarva mire with leviathan that was awesome

If smn does become a class that can be played an it aint held back by ppl mainly wanting heals then ill most likely try it but if it becomes FFXI smn all over again i wont even touch it. I dont mind healing now and then but it aint the smn main priority to do so.

SMN is only a healer if you let it be a healer. I took mine from 1-75 and fully merited. You know how many exp pt's I was in as a healer? "0". Cuz I refured to join pt's for that reason. There's plenty of ways to exp your SMN and be able to use the Summoner as you see fit and how you want to play the job without being forced to join an exp Party as a main heal. Yeah, sure, maybe you won't get that 30k/hr exp party solo'n, duo'n, campaigning or FoV'n. But that just means you have that much more time to enjoy the job you love. Stop the complaining about SMN in FFXI being broken and how it needs to be changed in FFXIV..... The jobs are what you make them. Now what you allow others to tell you how to play them.

to OP: Best prediction on XIV is that it will more then likely follow the format of smn in prior final fantasy's. In that it will be a spell for one of the mage classes, like in FF7 someone cast Ifrit, he does an attack and leaves the battle field. Reason my thinking is such is because look a the 2 new avatars Alex and Odin they will be a special condition summon during 2h. So it's not that there will be no summon's in FFXIV, but it will not be a pet like in FFXI. As i read all the 14 info in mentions "no pet classes yet" but unless i missed it it does not mention no summon magic, unless i missed it.
