i have read many guides. and each one has lacked the one thing most blu's want to know.
"what should i have set?"
after parting as a BLU and with a few blus ive noticed with so many spells (105) and a limited amount of spells to be ableto set up per level bracket. im woundering just what should i have set per grouping so i get the most out of my limited amout of spless. so im asking the community this at the following level brackets waht spells should "We" have set
1-10
10-15
15-20
20-25
25-30
30-35
35-40
40-45
45-50
50-55
55-60
60-65
65-70
70-75
while this is a lot to ask for it will help so many blu's and possible make this those who are lost seeteh light. thank you KI community for the help.

It usually comes down to what you need for what situation, but I'm bored. Assuming you're filling the role of a normal party BLU dealing damage and doing light support...
Blue = Healing/Support
Red = Damage
Purple = Debuff
Bold = Recommended Spell
1-10: Pollen, Metallic Body, Cocoon, Wild Oats, Sprout Smack, Foot Kick, Power Attack are all good options.
10-15: Head Butt, Head Butt, Head Butt, SNAAAAAAKE! SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!
15-20: Claw Cyclone, Bludgeon, Screwdriver.
20-25: ~
25-30: ~
30-35: ~
35-40: Wild Carrot, Blank Gaze.
40-45: Mandibular Bite, MP Drainkiss.
45-50: Sickle Slash, Refueling.
50-55: ~
55-60: Auto Refresh (Cold Wave + Self-Destruct + Stinking Gas + Frightful Roar + Light of Penance), Magic Fruit
60-65: Auto Refresh (Voracious Trunk + Cold Wave + Frightful Roar) Death Scissors, Dimensional Death.
65-70: Frenetic Rip, Hysteric Barrage, Diamondhide, Corrosive Ooze
70-75: Auto Refresh (Plasma Charge + Acnitic Burst), Exuviation, Magic Hammer, Temporal Shift, Disseverment, Cannonball, Vertical Cleave.
use an Auto Refresh set based on your level.
Odds are I missed a few, if I did, someone else can point em out. That's a general outline of the spells that are useful for normal party play. Obviously, BLu can fill several roles, so set spells depending on your role.

QUOTE (Prothescar @ Jun 10 2009, 07:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It usually comes down to what you need for what situation
That's pretty much why no one's replied to this post till now. Blue Mage can do too many different things to be limited to... one static list of spells :/ Best thing you can do is think about the event that you're doing and seeing what spells would work best for the situation.
Standard DD? Set big 3 and Vertical Cleave (if you have... Expicon(sp?) or w/e it's called)
Need to assist in healing? Set Magic Fruit, Mnd Spells, MP Drainkiss/ Magic Hammer (if the mob has mp).
Gonna use Cannonball? Str/Vit Spells, Cocoon, and Cannonball is all you need.
Doing something like Jailer of Temperance? Make sure you have blunt/slashing/piercing spells.
Meriting on Colibri? Piercing Spells & MP Drainkiss ftmfw. Vertical Cleave w/ Expicon so you can solo Darkness and MB Drainkiss too.
(Auto Refresh and other job traits I'm not gonna mention cause a person should know what job traits they want to equip).
etc, etc, etc. You just have to look at the situation, what your alliance need, what the mobs weakness would be (if any), and apply yourself most efficiently based on those facts.

i really dont think of it that way. being versitile and conservitive cant go to "well" hand in hand. so you really have to pick and choose. and know what works best at the level brackes you are in. since if your in those brackets normally you will be fighting certian mobs. you said alliance got me thinking. since most of the time your not going to be in any type of alliance till 70+
your standard useage is going to to be xping. this is a bracket system not total endgame. endgame yes you can be very verstitle knowing your going up against certian god, nm, hmn, mobs and dynos. my orgional post is simply for those who are leveling and want to know if there even close to beign up to there A game. to try and help them and myself be better. being negitive or nonsupportive with what works best doesn't help anyone. if its a matter of what job role your playing then simply add the sets used for that in those brackets as well. examples
{DD}=
{support}=
{debuff}=
{tank}
{ect}
i simply ask if you do not wish to help incress the lists please dont post on this thread. it doesn't matter if 4,000 people post on this tread or not. as long as a few supportive people post what works best for them at there level brackets. it benifits everyone who is leveling blu and shows them what spells they need to have set. thx to everyone who is checking this thread for updates. hopefully more will respond with support EVERY post helps your Fellow BLU's
it often makes u think and give you the help we all need to be better and maybe just maybe incresses the poipularity of the job.

Thank you for adding to what i hope is a growing list of posts . and helping the blu community become better. my hats off to you and everyone who helps

Usually since I got to 75, I really don't use BLU for much else than farming or camping NM's with my job selection, I usually end up with the same set roughly for spells.
Battle Dance + Uppercut = Attack Bonus
Frenetic Rip + Disseverment = Accuracy Bonus
Plasma Charge + Actinic Burst = Auto Refesh
Head Butt
Hysteric Barrage
Cocoon
Refueling
and either Diamondhide, Sheep Song, Blank Gaze or Exuviation depending on the current situation.

Let's see:
{DD}=
10-30
Head Butt and Bludgeon are the two you'll want to rotate.
30-38
SA Claw Cyclone and SA Screwdriver are both pretty decent. Bludgeon and Head Butt continue to be solid.
38-48
Switch to SA Jet Stream or Uppercut, continuing to throw in Bludgeon and/or Head Butt in between.
Red Lotus Blade---> Bludgeon/Jet Steam= Fusion is a solid self SC. You can try magic bursting with Bomb Toss, but I have my doubts as to its efficiency. At Level 44 I would switch to SA+Mandibular Bite, but consider continuing with that self SC for when Chain Affinity is up.
Refueling (10% Haste, 5 min duration) becomes available, although if you can get someone else to cast real Haste on you, all power to you.
48-60
I liked Red Lotus Blade--->SA Sickle Slash= Gravitation+ MP Drainkiss MB. You mostly fight crabs and, more importantly, Colibri during this level range, which can be aspired. SA Mandibular bite is also still good, in some cases maybe even better than SA Sickle Slash.
Bludgeon is still decent, as is Head Butt.
60-69
Death Scissors produces fantastic damage. Be sure to always use it with Sneak Attack and Chain Affinity, plus a good amount of TP. If CA isn't up and/or you're low on TP, then use SA+Sickle Slash or Mandibular Bite instead. Trick Attack+ Frenetic Rip helps with hate control- which you'll need with the amount of damage that Death Scissors will be doing.
69-75
We get the rest of our good multi-hit spells, and /NIN finally becomes a truly good subjob- partly due to the fact that /THF is a bit of a lost cause on imps (I was always either silenced or under amnesia, so picking a time when you're under neither effect can be a bit hard). Rotating Frenetic Rip, Hysteric Barrage, and Disseverment is usually your best bet.
If you are at a camp and/or party setup where /THF is usable, SA Vertical Cleave can produce very nice numbers.
Good self-SCs (although at this point it isn't always viable)
* Savage Blade--->Disseverment= Distortion
* Expiacion---> Vertical Cleave= Darkness (+MP Drainkiss MB)
{support}=
Healing Breeze, Wild Carrot, and Magic Fruit are our cure spells. Additionally, Diamond Hide can be helpful, although it does have a high MP cost.
{debuff}=
-Wild Oats- the -VIT is rather nice, has a low MP cost
-MP Drainkiss- can be nice, particularly versus Colibri
-Blank Gaze- Gaze-type Light based Dispel
-Geist Wall- AoE Dark Based Dispel
-Frightful Roar- If you can land it, it is a very nice enfeeble (-10% DEF) for exp parties and NMs
-Filamented Hold- 25% Slow- Not a bad idea if your tank needs help
-Corrosive Ooze- -5% attack and -5% def- not bad
-Actinic Burst- Flash- helps with putting shadows up, also high enmity
Sleep spells
Light Based- Sheep Song (1 min), Yawn (1:30)
Dark Based- Soporific- 1:30 duration
Physical- Pinecone Bomb- Ranged- duration a bit random
{tank}
Cocoon should be set for obvious reasons. The curing spells listed above are also advised- think PLD. Additionally, the spells listed below provide high enmity
Blank Gaze
Jettatura
Temporal Shift
Actinic Burst
Exuviation
Saline coat gives a potent, although deteriorating, Magic Defense. Great for something like Citadel Buster or Astral Flow
If you can, try to equip a killer trait for some intimidation.
{etc}
In terms of nukes, some can be effective if you gear for them:
Eyes on Me- Dark based, CHR
Regurgitation- Water based, INT +a MND mod; Has a Bind additional effect and seemingly low enmity; does more damage from behind
Firespit- Fire based, INT +a MND mod
Mind Blast- Thunder based, MND
Amplification and Memento Mori will give MAB to boost these spells.

Take out Sound Blast and Cursed Sphere, those are useless. There's no need for MAB in parties, particularly at that level.
Unless you're fighting Imps at that level, switch to /THF till 69ish. Equip Death Scissors and destroy. Death Scissors can also be used for Attack bonus, so you could take out either Spinal Cleave or Uppercut.
Use your TP for boosting Death Scissors's damage to insane levels. When CA is down, use SA+Spinal Cleave, Mandibular Bite, or Sickle Slash (depending on what you can fit in). To help with hate control, use TA+Frenetic Rip, unless you're able to SATA onto the tank.

Prothescar you might want to look at your suggestion again lol. Sadly I tried use to your guide all day to find out your auto refresh for 60-65 range was way off. You need eight pts going to AR, you only listed six.
