With the announcement of the next update suggesting northlands past areas will be released, the campaign set bodies may come along with it. With most of the rest of the iron ram pieces giving 4-5 enmity, its logical to assume the body will be something around 7-8 enmity. That being, said comparing the acp body with this new piece we have:
- Iron ram: Enmity +7-8
- Nuevo Coselete: Fast Cast and Enmity +5
Would the iron ram body be better then nuevo to macro in for flash? And if so, would nuevo even be worth it anymore for ustu only? If IR doesnt beat out ACP, i doubt it will have any use other than MDB builds, which are limited in use already.
Just wondering about this now since i havent been able to beat ACP for my pld yet and would most likely reconsider what augments to use on it if iron ram was better
Upcoming Iron Ram body vs. Nuevo Coselete

Fast cast / Enmity is the better casting piece. It's not hard to figure that out. All the Iron Ram body will be is another JA piece, and be useful in a MDB gear set. That's it.
Oh, and even then. The Nuevo Coselete has 5 enmity, hopefully if you picked the right upgrades. So you would only be gaining a measly 2-3 enmity, which obviously does not overwrite 5% Fast Cast

I think ACP Nuevo piece is much better for most part.ur getting +5 enmity on every spell u cast and the speed of the cast is helpful in alot of situations ("if u got the fast cast and enmity +5").I think IR body will be higher in enmity 6-8 possibly and have a nice amount of magic defense which would make it nice in certain situations too.I personally hate the way ACP Nuevo looks with its "kids superman cape" look and how easy it is to get but its arguably a really good pld piece not to mention its only real lack is defense.

I'm estimating 5-6 Enmity on IR Body. Still isn't beating Fastcast
Correct Answer IMO is Hauby+1 and Nuevo

Use Hydra Haubert because IR Body isn't out yet and nobody knows the stats.

The Nuevo is a macro piece for spell casting and enmity actions (atonement). It might take away one or two situations in which Nuevo is used, but I doubt it would fully replace it.

I hope it has some kind of stat that I'm currently lacking in a PLD body, like a large chunk of MDB.
Barring that...
As much as I'd hate to see my Hydra Haubert get completely replaced by a +10 Enmity body, it would be nice to see SE release something that's superior to old gear.

It definitely won't replace Hydra Haubert because if you look at the hydra gear vs the IR gear, the hydra gear in general has more enmity in every slot, like hydra head has 7 enmity, IR head has 5. Hydra legs have 6, IR have 4. If you follow that scheme, then IR body will probably have 7 enmity.
It'll just be another situational piece. I'd use IR on cures/JA, the coselete on flash and utsusemi.
People really overplay how another situational high enmity piece will really affect, well, anything.

I don't overplay how minimal an increase 1-2 Enmity into any actions is, but if it's marginally better, in my mind better is positive, no matter how small of an increase I'll use it.

Not you, I mean the people who are like:
OH.MY.GOD, IT MAY HAVE HIGHER ENMITY! IT CAN REPLACE THIS OTHER PIECE COMPLETELY WITH LESS ENMITY EVEN THOUGH THE OTHER GEAR HAS OTHER RELEVANT STATS!
You know they're out there. The people who idle in 30+ enmity and nothing else.

Oh yeah, I misunderstood you, my apologies.
I'll go a step further and point out that I see a lot of PLDs that idle, and flash, and cast Utsusemi, and get smacked around in a ton of Enmity and nothing else, they're out there too.
I guess macros are hard >.>

Im not sure whats worse, full vit/hp plds, or full enmity plds. Then again theres always the enmity/vit plds. A pld could still tank with that gear on, but they can be more efficient with other appropriate gear for w/e actions being done.
As far as Iron ram body, I dont see it having anywhere over 5-6 emnity. You would need to have the enmity on Hydra body to be able to out do the ACP body. And even then, if not in a adequete support settings, ie double marches, than ACP body would still beat out hydra.

The IR head has 5 enmity, and legs have 4. If you follow the usual scheme of bodies stat improvements over head and legs, then the body has to have 6-7, unless they go for a completely new stat line and not hp/enmity/MDB. I'm personally expecting 7 enmity and 7MDB, assuming they ever actually release the shit.
That would be the logical stats, but yeah SE is rarely logical. 9 to 1 they find a way to fuck it up.

I was comparing it to pieces of Valor and how each piece was 1 enmity over that piece minus head (+2). However you're right 6-7 does look like the mark this body will hit if they keep it on track. 7enm /mdb does sound very possible and very nice for situations.

It is also very possible that the body piece has something that aren't on the other pieces. Like Adaman Hauberk set, the body is the only piece that has Dex and Str. Hecatomb Harness set, the body is the only piece that has accuracy instead of Dex. Homam set, the body is the only piece that is missing haste but made up for it by adding triple attack. On and on.... It is quite possible that the body has no enmity at all or no MDB at all. Maybe they will be made up by adding damage reduction as a whole, who knows? I think it is rather too early to tell.
I personally hope they go with the unique body piece stats route. I really don't need another enmity body piece. An oh shit body piece with damage reduction would be good.... don't forget what Iron Ram Lance's stats is, not saying it is part of the set, but I have sure as hell seen NPC wearing that together with the rest of the Iron Ram pieces.

This is really something nice to consider. I would love for them to put some kind of damage reduction other than MDB on the body piece, at first I thought "well SE wouldnt make a piece that would be as good as Odin, aka replace it" but then again its SE, making gear obsolete is always within their grasp aslong as it isnt named "Haubergeon" something better down the line is always a possibility.
Considering how long they pushed these body pieces back, I hope they give them some unique stats. However its SE , faith in them is as stable as an Ohat pickup shout group. And with FXIV, I feel theyve been rushing things and really havent given us any good content lately. ACP story was lackluster, but $10 for a body piece isnt too bad I guess

Yeah, I forgot bodies could have different stats compared to the other pieces. However I'm hoping it stays the same so I don't need to buy a coral body for CB.
That is if I ever do endgame. XIV announcement kind of shut me off from endgame.

You don't want to spend 50k on a staple MDB piece?

Has there been a IR VS Coral test? I always assumed IR was better. I know MDB isn't as potent as MDT, however I was assuming since IR had more MDB it'd be better.
Haven't really looked into it much since I'm pretty much suffering from IDAF.
