Today we bring you the 9th Vana'diel Census, which marks the seventh anniversary of FINAL FANTASY XI.
In addition to the familiar information, we've mixed in data from the preliminary survey to dig deep and show the true face of the community.
Other fascinating never-before-seen statistics such as how merit points are used and the number of players who have earned one of the coveted mythic weapons are also included!

The 9th Vana'diel Census can be found here.

I'm not going to really post everything so here's what I found interesting in a nutshell:

1. Red Mage ranks first as the most popular job. Whereas White Mages make up a little over 14% of the population according to the ingame data.

2. Corsairs are dead last both as a favorite job and making up less than one percent of the population according to the ingame data.

3. Out of Shield, Guarding, Parrying, and Evasion. Evasion is the most merited defensive combat skill.

4. The top 3 fully merited combat skills are...
-----1. Sword
-----2. Katana
-----3. Dagger

5. The top 3 fully merited magic skills are...
-----1. Enfeebling Magic
-----2. Elemental Magic
-----3. Blue Magic

6. There are 246 fully upgraded Aegis' and 231 fully upgraded Apocalypses.

7. The PLD Mythic, Burtgang is the most commonly upgraded Mythic. There's currently 14.

8. There's a current total of 941 Ebisu Fishing rods in the game.

9. Over 50% of the game's players make between 0-50K a week.

10. There's currently 21 color combinations a linkshell can be that are currently not in use. Most of them being a shade of pink or green.

11. Black is the most commonly used pearl color.

Sadly that's it. WTF happned to the race/gender distributation and the post popular face/hair combos?

They should at least break down the RMT tells by brogame/brosales/etc. and bans per server. tongue.gif I notice they completely omit anything regarding the RMT tells in bannings.

Why exactly would that be in a census?

RMT banned are in the STF report.

No point, they'll just reinstall the trial and be back. Funny thing is I think me and a few others sweared at one enough to make them change their status to /away a few days ago xD

To a player possessing multiple jobs, choosing which magic skill to upgrade may be an even more difficult decision than choosing a weapon skill.

is this true for anyone? i think SE is stupid, only 3 skills are good to do and they happen to be the top 3.

divine seal recast?! that is rather high too

whm merits are very odd , logically you would not even merit pro V let alone 4 into it, i only put one in it for the no effect crap when you change whm around.

You're a forum-dweller, though. You're a part of a group-think machine. Most players only glance at forums (if that much) and do what makes sense to them, hence the rather silly Cure Cast Time merits. You should see the absurd talent builds I've witnessed in WoW. It's a simple truth: only a small percentage of players are particularly concerned with being the best and most of them come onto forums to talk about it.

I don't know about cor, the others seem a bit more reasonable, like with no burst affinity merits and so forth. and no killer circle merits, some are on drg though ><.

@ path eve without forums I always vauled bar spells even when people in game tell me they where useless, and cure cast is ok, the debate is you want to cast fast to cure large amount of damage ( an agurment here over regen) basicly it was do regen if you merit a lot and cure cast for hnms.

I do not mind the debatable ones that you would only find here, what shocks me are the ones that stand out " OMG who will merit that"

kind of like zanshin merits as well.

for the pro thing you can be in-game and paly with that, it was like 5 def from pro IV? i would never upgrade it further.

and any endgame whm should no there is no question to 5/5 shell V.

as a whole what job you think has the best conformatiy and why?

I think it is BLM, people see the value of needing it in thunder and ice, while tossing a few somewhere else on some element a person may use more then normal.

AM II , same thing, lot of people do 1/1 in them cept tornado , bust and freeze

btw I want to merit phy acc on blu

5/5 on QD Recast/Accuracy is your best bet. I won't go into it too much, but just to boil down G1 merits...

Phantom Roll Recast - Each roll lasts 5 min. and since you'll usually be rolling between 2-4 rolls on average. You really shouldn't have to worry about rolls wearing off before you can rebuff them.

Random Deal Recast - Not too bad, it's not something I'd rely on 100%, I mostly use it to recharge Phantom Roll in case of a bust.

Bust Duration - Fold automaticly removes a bust effect. So you shouldn't have to worry a lot about Bust at all. Besides that zoning also removes the effect so if you're by a zone line.... no worries.
