How do you guys go about using your Automaton besieged? Every time I go in the monsters bee line straight for Drille and rape him. Even when they're being occupied by someone else it's like the automaton suddenly gets top of the hate list. What's up with that?

AI, especially in beseiged, is wonky. Apparently there is something there that makes the NPC's that fight along side of you slightly better targets then the players. Unfortunately pets like the Automaton are caught in that same thing. If there is a NPC in aggro range it seems that a monster will make a break for it if it has hate on nothing else at the moment.
What I normally do is either Valoredge and play very conservatively with him, don't attack anything that seems to be moving around at random as if it's hate is unsteady. Or Soulsouther especially if I'm in party with DD's. Cure spamming <3.
Also -avoid- the very front lines, especially when the Besieged begins. And keep an eye on when you have a Revitalizer, use them when you need them. They are a godsend.

Like Eviticus said, Besieged AI tells all mobs to find an NPC and attack it. Pets, sadly, count as NPCs. Any mob that does not have hate generated on a target will home on the nearest NPC target, and if they DO have hate o na target, NPC actions generation considerably more enmity, resulting in a wasted puppet.
my suggestion? Play Besieged on another job, or just be very careful and make use of your revitalizers.

pretty much what he just said but i also add that blm bot can be good too. Usually i try to fight mobs in out of the way areas, and up againsr a wall to make sure that a mob wont pop up behind serenade and sneak molest him. even then i usuaully use at least 1-2 revitalizers a besieged

Now granted when I played Blm auto in Besieged there was far less known about how to play with the Blm auto and make it useful, but I remember a -ton- of resists. Maybe if you come in with the Tranquilizer and a totally awesome gameplan you can make it work right, but I never had much luck with it personally.

Oh, it's gonna resist. real BLMs resist, too. but even then, it's enough damage to get good exp at the end.

Isn't there a flat 50% magic damage resist to start with that all Besieged mobs have to start with? Or am I misremembering?
