That principle about Haste's accelerating returns applies to players who can actually change their stats by way of gear. For pets, beyond ensuring that you've got the highest level Call Beast possible, the best you can do are a few items like Beast Bazubands and Herder's Subligar. Improving their attack speed by 5%, even though monsters generally attack pretty fast already, is a huge gain with how few ways there are to improve pet performance.
Hmmm. In that case, I'm going to need help from one of you Rainman types, because I'm seriously lacking the mathematical chops to work this out for myself.
I managed to get myself a pair of the Herder's Subligar, so once the Mirke Waldecors was unveiled and I saw the augments, I was very interested in making myself a Pet+ build. I was initially torn between Pet Accuracy +15 / Pet Attack +15 and Pet Accuracy +15 / Pet Double Attack +2% / Pet Critical Hits +2%, because I wasn't sure how the bonuses stacked up against each other. It was explained to me as:
"Go with the Attack.
DA+2% is a 2% boost to DoT and TP gain speed if the mob has no DA (1.02/1 = 1.02) or a 1.8% boost if it does (1.12/1.10 = 1.0181818).
+15 Attack will be a bigger boost than that and the crit rate, especially against higher level mobs your pet can't damage easily."
So, given the new augments available on the hat, does the same explanation still hold true for the Mirke options? Does the potential of Pet Haste +5% and Pet Critical Hit Rate +3% make the Pet Double Attack +2% / Pet Critical Hit Rate +2% option on the Mirke viable at all?
Just so you know, I had been thinking to go with Pet Accuracy +15 / Pet Attack +15 and Pet Damage Taken -10% / Pet Regen effect, because I didn't think the haste and DA/Crits were going to do much. Now I don't know what I'm thinking...
Thanks in advance, if you can actually be bothered to read/reply
