I'm pretty sure there's got to be some kind of qualifying formula determining which post topics get necrobumped, something involving the inanity of the topic in conjunction with the insipidity of its original poster as well as frequency of posts within the topic and the age of the topic itself.

Yes. Kindly check the dates on a thread before you post in it. And if you have to go to page 2 of a forum to find a thread, you are very likely not dealing with active threads.
