So I was reading the forums today and noticed a few ppl saying x's doesn't work in offhand, which is against everything i've ever heard about it so I went out and did some of my own testing today to compare different daggers and dagger setups for thief.

About the tests: All tests were done in West Saruta vs. Mandy's. All gear is the same throughout each test. When Blau is in mainhand add 16 att to what is listed above. Basically went out and did 10 Sneak Attacks on the mandy's for each setup and recorded the info, I'd have done more but 1 minute sneak attack = I was out there for a long ass time already...

Oh and I included Thiefs Knife kinda as a control, plus we're forced to use it so often figured why not test it too.

Ok to start off I tested only using single daggers while naked. No offhand was used. Here's the results:

Results were as expected, X's > Pharpe > Blau > Thf Knife. No suprises here.


Next I went into my normal DEX setup for Sneak Attack, again single dagger

Again pretty much as expected


The following test is using Blau Dolch offhand, in my full DEX setup.

Also pretty much what I expected, X's keeps coming out on top for sneak attack damage...

Ok now the fun one, offhand X's. The seemingly popular belief is that it doesn't work in offhand

You can see a noticable improvement to all daggers compared to when there was no offhand involved or even when blau was used in offhand. Very pleased to verify this info.


And lastly just for funsies I tossed on a STR set and SA'd in that. I've been getting alot of dumb questions about wearing shit like heca harness and whatnot. As far as sneak attack only, here are the results.

No competition vs a dex gear set as I'm sure most of us knew...


Not really any new info but I did notice a few ppl asking about this so hopefully this can help clarify some stuff about x's as well as people who have a hard on for str builds... Highest DMG setup is pharpe/x's, followed by x's/blau. Obviously I'd reccommend X's/Blau for the lower delay. Don't have and don't plan on a mandau so unless you want to pay for it, don't expect any follow up tests for that.

I don't know if there was a growing thought that X's actually didn't work in the offhand.

However, I was surprised when someone in-game asked me why I was offhanding X's. I was like "are you seriously questioning it?" And then they mentioned that they heard it on KI. And I look in and see a thread with Treelo and Nefarious and maybe others talking mad smack about it. However I'm on the same server as Nefarious so I asked him what the heck that was about. And yeah it turns out it was a huge pisstake. I believe the thread was somewhere around last January or Feb, and the joke was directed at a new forum participant of the time.

X's definitely has a noticeable increase in the offhand, and it's easily seen in mercy stroke as well. Sometimes though, however, I feel that it's not a very large boost above blau, and is even worse at times. However, it's definitely not easy to quantify that comparison.

i had a feeling they were fucking around. and thats fine. but its still misinformation out there and they never really cleared it up in the thread so i've even been asked questions about it working in offhand.

again info isn't anything new in the least bit to most of us. just wanted to do some real testing to help clear some confusion. i was planning on doing a weapon skill comparison as well at some point, most of this info is to help out ls thieves, but also to help maximize my gear sets and whatnot. when i'm donen with those i'll post info.

Macro in X's Knife for Sneak Attack or Trick Attack and use Blau Dolch the rest of the time.

I use Blau Main hand for TP, and I switch to X's for WS.

You can do SA Evis as blau/x's and it will affect all crits on both hands correct?

Yes it affects both hands. There's no data on it but it's one of those things that's usually taken as a given. IE, the help text reads "enhances critical hit damage" generally, ∴ taken ver batim it means that it affects the hits of both hands.
