Anatomizing La Vaule (S) SCNM - WWYD Strategies

I'm looking for a good strategy for completing a successful run for the major SCNM Battle in La Vaule (S) against Bloodcrown Brradhod. We started a sister linkshell to our Salvage LS on Unicorn primarily made up of seasoned FFXI veterans with multiple jobs leveled and a great foundational understanding of game mechanics. We pretty much low man everything we possibly can. So far we are sitting on 2/8 of the key items required to enter the SCNM with potentially all 8 within the next two weeks so I am planning in advanced.

Put yourself in this scenario:

You have no more than 10 people that you are allowed to have in your alliance. All 10 members can change to any job combo available in the game. One member must be a TH4 THF. One of your members is a BRD with a Relic Horn. All are well merited, know how to play, and have experience in every different endgame scenerio known to FFXI; no nooblets here. If you were placed in this situation and given the chance to create a alliance with what I am working with, how would you arrange the parties, with what job, and how would you proceed to kill the SCNM?

First thing I'd do is replace the Thief with a job that actually matters.

We've never had a problem with this SCNM at all, why arent you guys farming all the key items in one run?

Anyways,

Basic anything works really, have a tank party, one PLD kites the main NM while another pulls one of the other mobs, the alliance assists until those guys are dead then the kited one is pulled in and killed. Pretty easy fight

Well, we are trying out SCNM's for the first time since some citizens in our group want some of the items that drops from these battles. We we're only able to farm up two last night because we had a little fun with Mr. Xolotl out in Attowha Chasm on the way to our weekly Wednesday night ENM battle. That is what caused us not to be able to get most of them out of the way. We started doing the loop first taking out Agrios then over to Draketrader but had to stop there for the evening.

Lets start with a few of my main concerns about this battle; mainly dealing with the adds.

1.) How much assistance do you think this PLD tank will need. WHM and BRD (If Elegy can even land on the main boss)?

2.) Can the Adds be slept and dealt with one by one or will they resist all forms sleep and gravity and just need to be killed one by one while they are attacking us?

3.) From researching the details of this SCNM, I have gathered very little information on what these Orcs are resistant/immune to. Do you know if there are any debuffs that these Orcs are resistant/immune to just so I can inform our mage battery of spells to steer clear of?

thank you..

I see, its an armory crate that loads. No problem, THF has other jobs that they can come as.

Thanks.

1) PLD should be able to kite him effectively by himself, I dont remember if you can even land gravity or anything on him

2) I cant really remember honestly as I havent played in months, but I'm pretty sure they cant be slept just picked off one by one.

3) Theres something else you need to know about the SCNM but I cant remember, once its time for the main NM, he does something that you need to have the entire alliance back off and stop tp'ing I really cant for the life of me remember what it was sorry...

Enter the BC

Buff

The rangers should be picked off last, if you can split your alliance in two and have half focus on one warrior and the other half focus on the other warrior and bring those down first you should be good.

Paladin kites main NM

Once both warriors are dead kill the rangers

Paladin brings the main NM

(Heres where I cant remember the main strategy)

I'm pretty sure its ok to TP on him....but anyways have the DD setup a SCMB order and blast the bitch until he is dead.

The Main NM has an aura that buffs his def/mag def and lowers everyones acc (kinda like flash) for everyone in range of the aura. The aura seems to go away after he uses invincible though, so no big deal really. We had a couple blm and me pup to nuke on him til he'd invincible and have the aura disappear. Then wail on him when invincible wore.

He also has an AoE light move that inflicts amnesia, I think its like 400-500~ dmg and amnesia.

The fight wasn't really hard though, pretty easy imo.

I have the vid of our fight up on my youtube account if you're interested. http://www.youtube.com/user/Meoryu

My LS does it thusly:

Full alliance.

Tank Party: NIN, NIN, PLD, PLD, RDM, WHM

DD Party: DD DD DD DD BRD BRD

BLM Party: BLM BLM BLM BLM RDM COR

The NINs grab an add each and hold it on the side. The PLDs kite the boss as everyone else rapes it down. When he dies, we take out the adds.

My group usually does it with 14 on average, and we've done it with 12.

The paladin kiter will want 1 mage, either a rdm or whm, to help heal them just in case they get in trouble. As the paladin kiter, I go pld/nin and I actually kite the main NM along with the 2 rangers. It goes without saying that fast pants helps out a lot.

You will want 2 people that can voke and kite/tank. Some combination of war and nin will be fine. We had 1nin and 1war the time we did it with 12. Their job is to claim the wars so that the paladin can kite the other 3 mobs. Melee down one war, then the next. Once the 2 wars are down, they will actually pick up and kite the rangers. We like to kill these 2 last. You can kite the rangers around the little house if you want.

For the NM, the paladin holds it somewhere with their back to the wall. Hold it and let the blms nuke it until the aura goes away. Melees on while the aura is down. If the aura comes back, melees off and blms back on. 3 blms is ideal, but 2 will do if they're very well geared.

[Congradulations to starting SCNM. The fact that you are on Unicorn, I guess my advice maybe helpful. As I did start the linkshell that 1st did it on a regular basics "Midnighthunters" We gotten over 60 helms so far.

If this is only for the HNM fight itself the thf is useless. TH4 does nothing for the items that drop in this fight, however TH4 is great when you can accomplice and hold hate upon the 8/8 NM's for key items. It almost always garentes at least 1/2 items will drop.

For this fight you need two tanks. 1 tank can handle the HNM and the other one regardless if it's a Pld, war or rdm kites the four monsters. You pick one off at a time. I suggest the rngs 1st. When kiting just stand off to the side. The monsters themselves are only VT so they should die fast.

As for teh HNM I don't recomend kiting him. Whileit can be done, thebetter pld's just stand at one spot and hold hate the whole time with a whm or rdm to assist them.

While his Shell is up, have Blms, Schs, rdms do t3 spelsl only and dot. Rngs can do ranged attacks and blus can breath spells. You don't need to pull lots of hate. When his shell drops have all melee go in. If you have a drk to zerg him or some mnk with a k club thats cool. Space out the zerg though as he has an pld 2 hour invincible and it be a waste if it pops off right as you do the zerg. The 2nd pld or tank canhelp hold hate while you zerg.

His shell will go back up between 20-30% and drop around 10% so you repeat the process. This is the easiest of the three SCNM's fights. In general killing some of the NM's to get the pop set are harder, thinking of Warmachine, and others. A thf pulling these to safe spots is great.

1. Thf pull drg to entrence let pld kite and nukers nuke. Dont melee it as its jump can 2k 1 shot you.
2. Cornbacker AOE charm when like 5% health. Either time nuke the death shot or all gather around him when he AOE charm so he doesnt wipe some of you. He can be puleld to the river or the area right by the SCNM HNM entrence.
3. The Giga, he has AOE stomp and bolder, but easy just have melee stand out of range if nuking or dot
4. The Gnole, Just TP away he is easy, pull with thf to a bridge. Thf may die or fall in water. Easy fight.
5. The Blm/Sch SW corner, clear a few mobs around the tree or pul him far. TP him to death and stun lock with a blu if you can.
The other charming orc is a pain 1st time we fought him he aoe charmed us and we wiped a jhapense ls there farming. But afetr the charm over he easy
6. Copycat Eye: Just face away as he has peterfy and kick his butt

Overall the mobs are not TP friendly to use so if you can nuke and just let pld tanks hold hate thats the best thing to do.
