usefull when you have a lot of people who can kill any dangerous mob down quickly. but when you have lower numbers of people, mages who don't have the mp to pop hundred fists etc. it's still safer to have an experienced pld who can pull hate and mitigate damage. why not also toss some vokes and flashes on sleeping mobs to spare sleepers as well.
Turtle PLDs are out?

Sleep costs 19 MP, and will do all the dangerous ability-mitigating you need. Moreover, the lower the numbers you have, the more you should be aiming to condense all possible roles into as few players as possible.

Getting 64 people to all disengage a Hundred Fists-ing mob so it can be slept for the duration is not always an easy task...

More importantly... has anyone ever done a 64 dynamis in the past 4 years?

I've never done a Dynamis with more than 30...
I only done one over 40 and it was team up for attest NM run back in the days of 05/06 with max people

Northland zones usually get 40+, dreamland runs are always full.

PLD/DNC is where it's at yo. It's all PLD IS good for if they do go to a Dynamis/Limbus. I go as an added placebo effect so one of the leaders doesn't go around crying like a chicken with his head cut off. Really, PLD is useless in Dynamis and Limbus.

My LS uses PLDs to kite statues and hold some sleeping mobs. Tanking MNKs is fun, too.

More importantly, if you have a full 64 people why would you bother making anyone disengage? Theres almost no job combination scenario that can't either stun it through most of the 2 hour, or kill it before its 5-10 seconds into it.
Even with as little as 18-20, its easy to kill a monk before its even a third into its 2 hour meaning a simple stun or a cure bomb can keep you up long enough.
I prefer to just reprisal or sentinel away monk 2 hours since they don't often in come in groups of multiple monks, and even if there is a shield bash or a couple stuns work the same.

I specifically said most zones, but even so, useless? No. Worth a spot in your party? No. An organized Dynamis group should have no issues with assigning one WAR/NIN(or what have you) as the mob-selector and having everyone else simply /assist.

Only thing I did on PLD was be caller, that was pretty much it. And the random "Hold demon boss" thing in Xarc.

And I specifically did not mention that I was replying to your post(s), not that it was any importance. My reply was more of an insight joke because I've ran and am running a Dynamis LS for several years, and I just disagreed with the notion of thinking PLDs are useless in Dynamis to whatever degree people hold on this particular subject matter. Others can do their Dynamis runs as they please, every group has their own setups/strategies/etc like exactly how you've stated your own opinion about assigning said main/subjob to be tasked in choosing a target to have the rest /assist said person.

Seeing this particular post was what made me throw in that random post/joke. By the way, Tricant, I'm hardly looking for any debate here. So please don't take such mention of your name to any offense, tis not my intention. I'm just quoting you just to validate why I said what I said in my last post for Kaparu there. ^^
