COR Gear Question

Hey I am lvling COR, its 62 atm and soon 75. I was wondering if any experienced end game COR can help me with gear options. I'd like to know:

1) COR TP set with Joytoy and meleeing, What you use what is Ideal.
2) COR WS set what you use what is Ideal for Detonator, Slug and Leaden Salute.

Look for somethings that is affective in Merits as well as in end game as far such as Dynamis/limbus/salvage/etc and HNM; this is a area I spend good amount of time in. I'm asking about HNM that are COR Melee able. I assume most cases at end game/HNM events will be /WHM sub.

If you have a link so I can check out the Different gear used say FFXIGear or FFXIAH that can be help full as well.

Thx in advance!

For TP I usually whore out on accuracy, since I'm kind of biased and compared to Great Axe I feel like I'm swinging at and ungodly high rate with just haste or a march.

For WS. It depends on the SJ. With /NIN I usually rely on more R.Acc due to the lack of Sharpshot.

As for endgame... Melee just felt kind of meh to me outside of city dynamis zones. Instead I made Quick Draw my main methood of damage.

SJ wise it depends on what you're fighting and your PT. For Faf/Nid I usually prefer /WHM for an extra Divine Seal/Curaga to counter wings for BLMs. But for other stuff I use /RDM or /BLM depending if your LS needs the extra cures or not.

You only use a TP/WS gear set for merit PT's.

You're not going to reliably hit endgame bosses and your only real damage output is Quick Draw. So you need to make yourself a decent quick draw set. This is pretty cheap to accomplish and there are only a few hard to obtain pieces for it. (Corsair's Gun +1 is next to imposable unless you know a crafter you can use to whore one out).

Merit's:
5/5 QD Acc
5/5 QD Recast

5/5 Snake Eye
1-4/5 Fold
1-4/5 Loaded Deck

For subjobs I only ever go /WHM is I know I won't be using QD at all and bar/na spells are going to be required.

Everything else I normally go /BLU now just due to Magic Attack Bonus 1 and the Extra 5AGI from set spells, Wild Carrot and Healing Breeze.

If you really want to melee HNM's all you're really going to accomplish is feeding them more TP then damage dealt.

All of these sets are built for merits, so /WAR vs. greater colibri and eating sushi.

Melee TP

I would obviously prefer using PCC if I could afford it, and I would DEFINITELY prefer using denali legs if I could get 'em to drop (I'll be the first to say vendor's slops are pretty ghetto). Except for a few expensive and/or rare upgrades, it's a decent build with nothing too incredibly difficult to obtain. With 5/8 sword merits and the above-mentioned circumstances, I've got ~89% hit rate. I personally don't recommend haste gear unless you've got a lot of HQ accuracy gear to balance it or a subjob with accuracy bonus. Some people swear by it, but I've run the numbers and collected the parse data for my situation and found I land a higher number of attacks over time by focusing exclusively on accuracy. There are technically shields you can use if you desire to see something occupying every slot, but none provide any particularly relevant stats except for the uncommon /DRG build with wyvern targe.

Slug Shot
http://www.ffxiah.com/item_sets.php?id=44179

A pretty conservative build geared toward 90%+ hit rate with 6/8 marksmanship merits.

Detonator
http://www.ffxiah.com/item_sets.php?id=49330

Quick Draw (works for leaden salute too)
http://www.ffxiah.com/item_sets.php?id=44825

A pretty cheap set requiring quite a bit of work (lol @ ashura necklace instead of uggalepih pendant)...but hopefully it provides a starting point.

Very Helpful info thx a ton. Though another question has come up. So you are saying in case of Odin per se u would not use any Ranged attacks just quick draw damage? This the case for Sky gods too?

I'd shoot Odin (and have before, actually); not the best damage of course, seeing how Rangers primary in ranged attacks, but I'd definately use both shooting and range attacks (Fire Shot paired with Vulcan\'s so you can murderize on both sides of the field).

Tu'Lia Gods, er... I'd probably stick to Quick Draw only, for obvious reasons.

It's all about knowing the situation; I'm mainly curious as to if you've actually done Odin before, example... not that you had to've done it before, but it just sounds as if you're entirely unfamiliar with it. mellow.gif

Oh, and gear sets, errr, mine atleast are (mind you, missing some pieces still sad.gif):

Detonator

Damage (Earth/Wind/ect) -Shot

Enfeebling (Light/Dark) -Shot

Leaden Salute

MP

Slug Shot

TP

And last but not least,

lol

I'm almost always PLD for sky, but I've heard occasional reports of success with ranged attacks against gods. I've personally only tried quick draw. Even my mediocre quick draw build pops 337 wind shots vs. Kirin every 54 seconds (yeah, need to finish those merits), which ends up being a fairly large chunk of damage by the end of the fight. The other gods I struggle a bit to get unresisted shots (Genbu is the main offender), but those things are usually dead within a few minutes anyway.

Well, let me rephrase that rather: I know for a fact that -shots work well on the Tu'Lia gods, but since I'm always on Samurai when I go to Sky, I'm not sure weither or not I(or anyone for that matter) would be able to land normal ranged attacks occasionally on them with a good rate or not.

I see so pretty much your damage is Quick draw on everything unless its merit parties. As for HNMs and odin yes I have did them all. We have killed Odin Often. In a LS called Whirling Wind on Cerberus. Though im 62 for cor Gear atm I have most of all the RareX stuff. Im always sucker for free lol. I have full Enkidus and AF2 but head. I have joy toy moldivate Earring and most the better Rarex Gear. Was thinking using that for COR. I do need to get a Flame earring though, how much more damage is that over Drone for WS?

So in a HNM setting its Buff party and quick draw in free time. Im working on getting That Rarex Neck from Sky chest for quick draw as well.

But all thx for the advice a lot go cleared up.

It's not that, but just.. the general rule of thumb is: If you can't melee it effectively, then you surely can't shoot it effectively either... while on the other hand, Quick Draw works pretty much anywhere (and regardless of your support job, at that).

Exception, being Odin to a sense, since you can melee him; he's a panzy, honestly, but he has some nasty area of effect moves, hence why linkshells prefer Rangers over piling on the standard jobs you'd use in normal Einherjar (to avoid the mentioned TP moves), though myself I'd throw SAM/THFs at that dude regardless since you can just run in and TA away your enmity, ect.

Oh, and er... Drone VS Triumph, while Triumph is better without a doubt in the long run, only expect like a 1% increase at best to the situations where you'd use it; nothing crucial, or else otherwise I would've upgraded it myself already!

This would be the dream set I would shoot for with /war. I would use Pot-a-Feu with it.

TP: http://ffxigear.com/?ref=12689

Slug Shot:http://ffxigear.com/?ref=12690

Detonator:http://ffxigear.com/?ref=12691

I put Mirke Wardecors in there because as soon as I get near 75 with RNG I will b swapping my body piece of to the +5% Snapshot/+10 Ranged Attack body, but it can also double us as a WS piece for my COR.

And once MKD comes out I will replace the Corsair's Tricorne +1 with a Anwig Salade with +4 STR/+15 WS Accuracy & +5 Ranged Attack/+10 Ranged Accuracy since I'm getting that for my RNG as well.

Gear I actually still have yet to obtain in those sets include:

Triumph Earring/Waetoto's Earring
Skadi's Bazubands
Toreador's Ring x2
Cuchulain's Mantle
Commodore's Bottes +1

Obviously I still need the Anwig Salade +enhancements, and I still need the Mirke Wardecors + enhancements because my RNG is still only 63.

You TP in str+ earrings? tongue.gif

Anywho, I dunno if it was mentioned anywhere but you can actually melee v/s sky guards and detonator WS. It's not amazing damazing but paired with firing off quick draws every 45-50 seconds it adds up. You just have to throw in as much att+ and acc+ as possible. I don't even bother with any haste in my setup as I'd rather hit and land for slower than miss and hit for faster.

Could always pick up a Diabolos Earring for free! And minuet if you have Brd.. (this is.. if you melee for TP). Better than Str+ tongue.gif

This is my actual setups I use as we speak. And Coeurl Gorget = Acc+7/Subtle Blow+1 (same as specs)

TP: http://ffxigear.com/?ref=12822

Slug: http://ffxigear.com/?ref=12824

Det: http://ffxigear.com/?ref=12825

Lead: http://ffxigear.com/?ref=12826

QD: http://ffxigear.com/?ref=12827

Nothing super special, imo. Missing some stuff here and there but overall I'm happy with my setups.
