well after reading what nin's getting i'm a little QQ cause those buffs would be extremely hot for thf as well. more eva and emnity in tanking stance, more dmg from behind mob, more accuracy in dd stance and higher crit rate in both stances? yeah that shit woulda been sexy as hell for thf

i don't particularly think thf needs an update but hell if every other job is getting em, or has gotten em already i'd like to jump on that bandwagon.

I think the only update THF needs is for SE to manipulate other players' minds so they give more respect to THF as a job.

The only problem there is with THF is that if the player doesn't play or gear the job right, their DD capabilities are negligible, thus they are useful only due to their TH.
On the other hand, almost any gimp can play SAM, DRG, DRK, WAR (since these jobs don't really require positioning, DEX/AGI builds etc. only the basic stuff such as Haste/Accuracy/Attack/STR which are usually already integrated into most pieces, such as Haubergeon) and still be a better DD than a bad THF, hence why so many people choose any "heavy" DD job over THF.
I don't think anything but a really overkill update for THF could change that mentality, I'm afraid.

I cannnn, but I haven't parsed a faf, and idc about it either really. I mean I'm stuck to holding TP of course (for SC), using SB instead of mercy, not SA'ing the mob even though it's definitely not going to flail since our tanks don't suck. And I usually don't use mandau because people forget the value of "having balls" and like to refrain from risking a poisoned mob "just in case."

I hadn't really thought about the stuff mentioned in the OP but this is stuff that would go along well with Thf. The idea of a Nin trying to stay behind a mob to increase their dps seems kind of odd yeah... But I think this is a decent buff for Nins. Something along the right lines, but I don't think it's nearly enough to satisfy the cries of people who still want Nin to remain an actual mainstream tank (not mocking; I agree w/ em).

i think pld is prob the biggest reason these abilities are level 40 and not lower like sams hasso/seigan. they'd be a great addition to any tank or dd who /nin often. but giving /nin a buff = giving pld a buff and i'm pretty sure se is trying to make nin a more viable option. either way i don't see nin's surpasing pld tanking, but maybe becoming a bit more useful in certain situations.

anyways yeah, hitting for 0 on ff is annoying as shit. i'm usually /drk for claim so i pop se for quick tp, and to make my mages work. i dunno how i'd feel about having to take off a mandau because ppl were worried about the poison proc, maybe at a low man nh but ff rarely puts up any real challenge. luckily, or unluckily i should say, i don't have the prob of being told to take off a mandau.

After 2 years of trying and trying i gave up and leveled BRD and BLM. Guess how many times I go THF to anything? i'll give you a hint it's less than 1

Sucks too cause i had a pretty good set up going. Sold all my AH gear, funded BLM and BRD. I wish i could play THF more but i don't feel like spending 100,000,000 gil just so i can play a Job. I'd rather spend that on a G-Horn and actually be usefull.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as everyone else in terms of coming on Thief for TH only. The thing is I really don't care. I much rather play my Sam and Blm on HNMs and for everything else I still enjoy playing Thf on a regular basis. I'll be damned if I sell anything for my Thief though. My sets have only gotten better (recently picked up a Sniper+1 and a Adder Jambiya/ Cuch mantle when the price drops some more) and there's no way I'd let any of it go to fund any other job.

what I would love to see is A+ dagger skill, not gonna happen but its my #1 pet peeve about thf.

I'm really hoping they open up weapon merits to allow you to cap other skills though too. I have far too many dd jobs to be restricted to 20 points. Especially since 8 of those will never leave dagger.

Considering I have Ninja leveled, I have to speak up for another job I adore but doesn't get much love.

Ninja has needed an update far more than Thief. Ninja hasn't gotten anything remotely decent in ages. Considering its uses are severely limited still, I'm happy to see it finally get a DD update.

But yeah, considering Thief is the main job for dagger, it's beyond retarded that SE never gave us a A+ in the category.

Some linkshells still use ninja for a lot of stuff, especially with a damage reduction set. You want to talk about severely limited use, look no further than thf.

What class do you play that no one comes near you? I literally cannot recall doing anything in WoW without any given class or spec. It's balanced around that nonsense now.

I did Long March North yesterday with a friend who has Mandau. He was just helping us out as he'd already completed it. Nonetheless, instead of coming on his Thief, as I wanted him to do, he came on Summoner. I dunno what to tell you, but there are people who love Thief and sometimes just don't play it even when asked in a situation where Treasure Hunter is irrelevant.

On the other hand, I have not seen any of my friends change to their Ninja in ages. The last time was when doing the Behemoth fight for the San d'Oria [S] quest series and after two failed duo attempts, he gave up, tanked on Samurai, and not only took the rotten thing down effortlessly but took less damage and did not lose aggro when I did have to Cure-bomb. Ninja has been definitely hurting more than Thief. I whine for something worth a damn being added to Monk, but I'm not going to pretend that the job is hurting right now.

I think everyone seems to forget that I had ninja and have ninja.

My old account was 75 nin and I played it semi-frequently usually event related or to help people with shit.

And my original and current toon has a 58nin.
