i think that one of the main things that needs to be balanced for thf to be a viable DD choice in HNM/Jailers/Salvage bosses/Dynamis scenario is for mob TP-gain to be readjusted, and here's why:

on drk, i get 14.4 base TP/hit. let's say i don't have any sTP, so it takes 7 hits to get to 100.8%. mobs receive 3 more TP than your base TP gain from every attack, which means that when i get to 100% on drk, the mob will gain 121.8% TP

now on thf, i get 4.9 TP/hit (dual wielding blau/misericorde +1) on each hand, then dual wield II and suppanomimi lowers that number to 4.1 TP/hit. now assuming i still have no sTP gear on, it'll take me 25 hits to reach 102.5% TP, adding 3 to the 4.1 TP i get per hit, multiplying that by 25, that means the mob gets 177.5 TP every time i get 100% TP, meaning the mob will get roughly 45.7% more TP per 100% from my thf than my drk


this is one of the bigger reasons i've come across (besides the perpetual misconception that thf only ever hits for 0 on big mobs) is that people don't want a thf on endgame stuff because they just feed the mobs TP at insane rates, causing them to use TP moves more often, creating an MP sink and putting a greater strain on an already-dangerous situation. if squeenix were to modify how much additional TP the mob gained from you hitting it (i.e. instead of adding 3 TP, add 30% of your base TP), then thf would be a much more viable endgame DD choice, given the ability to put out considerable DPS, fairly high WS #s coupled with the fact that these WS numbers can be posted on the main tank, or ditributed between multiple tanks if need be, and also the ability to collaborator any party members who might acrue too much hate. all of these traits, couple with possibly some sort of accuracy+%, crit+%, or haste+% job ability with duration/recast similar to that of hasso/seigan or velocity shot, and an alternate JA that would give the fulltime effect of evasion+% and also the effect of taking 10% of the enmity they generate, and pulling that amount of enmity from all other party members, thf would be a very lucrative DD option

not trying to "fix thf" or w/e, but this is just my suggestion :/

Honestly besides the reaaaaalllly early days of my Sky exploits and Chi Blasting Kirins, I don't recall Monk ever being wanted for HNM besides maybe Xolo and fighting off pops at Vrtra? Monk was generally always understood to keep out of HNM activities in my LSs regardless what year it was.
