you seemed to have missed that part where i said PRE SLUGSHOT

EDIT: The part that Spider-Dan fixed. This applies to the East Ronfaure [S] party only. Once you hit 38 and beyond, subbing /DNC provides great support. You hardly ever get hate on the birds. Your buffs keep your DD strong and Drain Samba and Curing Waltz help you support heal. Once you hit 40, Blinking Quick Draw lets you pull birds at a good pace and deal some damage. COR/DNC is king at the East Ronfaure [S] parties in my opinion. If your partying somewhere else, than Spider-Dans correction is quite accurate. I apologize for not clearing that up.

Pre Slug Shot and not at the East Ronfaure [S] camp yeah, Gun is better wink.gif. No arguing that.

If you really max out on melee gear for low level Cor it's still viable. I'll go against the grain in saying that I don't think the marginal damage increase of shooting 40-69~ish actually justifies the cost(in the same way you don't see DD oriented ninjas /blm with wheel spam builds in that same level range, technically better, but not enough to be worth the price of admission). Reality is most people will trade doing 5-10%~ less damage for not spending 100-200k over a solid leveling session.

Granted, I wasn't one of them when I first leveled Cor, though I sure am now that I came back to the game and often join level sync pts with friends. Melee cor is go!

I started DDing as soon as I could use the higher level bullets at 66, quick draw can do about 235x2, and slug shot, if it hits, can possibly do a decent amount of damage. So ya, DDing mid-lvl is ok, but not really expected, due to the fact bullets are so pricy. But I craft my stuff, and highly suggest main-job corsairs do pick up alechemy, it really helps, not only with bullets, but cards too.
As for lvl 75 though, with detonator and leaden salute being available, on bigger monsters, if you really want to DD, those probably will replace slug shot.

I dd cor a lot now. Single hand Joytoy /NIN, SH(too cheap to get +1, and Im slowly workin on getting other gear.....slowly)Ohat. Im workin on other gear atm. Unfortunatly I dd with Relic pants and boots, but I keep other gear with me macro'd in for Range attacks and WS' and Quick Draw.

Mamool.. Maybe? As far as birds go, you shouldn't have any issues with Slugshot.

Infact i want to try it out on RNG/DNC for 30-40 lvl exp range.

bad idea. the reason cor/dnc works well is because DNC gives acc bonus at level 60/30.
rng/dnc would serve little to no purpose. you get evasion bonus at 30, and subtle blow.
Curing waltz? you have Bloody bolt for healing AND an actual health drain at the same time.
as a rng, you should almost always sub nin for dual archer's and mitigating 3 hits. because you will take hate away from tanks at that level.

Curing OTHER people jeez, why would i sub it just to cure myself? And yes thanks for stating the obvious with /nin, indeed really the down side of /dnc is the hate aspect but unlike most people i actually like to TRY these things rather than just listning to people like you.

Ya, you're issues were just a shoddy party setup. Blms are very, very useless on birds. I've DB'd blm on a couple bird parties and my E skill scythe was more useful than any nuke (which blm scythe + brd + cor coupled with pup sharing like maxed out mage melee gear is almost decent, and tons of fun).

If you were a corsair with a bard in a party at 53 you should be doing a substantial amount of damage. You only have 7 less skill than a rng and whatever acc trait they have at that level, so if you go /rng + prelude, you're even on accuracy and I don't think there is a substantial difference in rng and cor gear in that level range (besides bullets). The problem would be that you were only one of two DDs, and the sam might not have been too great to begin with.

Once you get slug shot you can definitely do a decent amount of damage on lessers and normals because at that level you're really not that far behind a ranger. You will have less ranged accuracy and attack (and inferior bullets), but hunters and/or chaos rolls help to negate some of that. You can shoot a ~89 base damage wep with piercing bonuses.

Of course you could just play like a pulling bard, go /nin, and use darts to pull. You'll prolly be running so much anyways that you wouldn't be contributing that much damage so pulling speed could be more beneficial.

oh jeez. thanks for setting me up straight. I had no idea that my opinion on the matter would upset you so much!
And thanks for not listening to people like me who doesn't like to try other possibilities! You are an individual of your own!

But seriously. if an exp party was so open to your experiments, everyone would do whatever they please.
i only stated the obvious fact that /dnc would offer little to advantages on an exp pt.

Am i the ignorant one here? Because quite frankly, i'm insulted.
