Neither game is difficult. Both games have grown stale with time, just like any game does.

This.

The real reason - and the only reason - that FFXI (or WoW) has become less challenging or less "hard" is because it's seven years old. What other game could you play consistently for 7 years straight and not eventually become bored with?

Oh and ding in the name of Aion Online tongue.gif

While i agree that with experience and time FFXI has got alot easier i contribute most of that ease due to job adjustments and enmity fixes. They by far gave alot more power to the jobs and less of adjustments to the factors of HNM that made them challenge in past. Experience does benefit one to make the challenges alot easier although anyone that played day 1 NA to how they are now can attest its by far more SE job adjustments to this said fact.

He was probably refering to the enmity testing done to find out that little things like CE and VE exist. Not so much a fix, just testing. Also: your comment about the GM and E staff tanking is incorrect. Shield was updated a long ass time ago. Around the era where PLD got raise 1 @ lvl 50 actually. We just never got TP for blocking (or the non-interrupt bonus). But shield block%'s haven't really been touched since then.

I think the type of people in FFXI and WoW are about the same.

I think just the difference with FFXI, it is a smaller community, so if your spamming things, being immature, or screw a party over, there is a decent chance it will come back to bite you in the future. With WoW on the other hand, with a bigger community, the risk isn't as high, unless you really take the time to make yourself look that bad on a consistant basis.

So I really see both communities as the same, just in FFXI I think some people are more cautious because of that fact.

WoW has a lot more servers though, so its roughly the same amount of people on each server I would imagine.

Well from the info I looked up. There are about 200 servers in WoW (probably more), if there are 10 million playing, divide that by 200 you would have 50,000 active characters per server. Now subtract the amount of people who actually play, I would "estimate" in a full server you get up to 30,000 active people in a WoW server.

Do "/sea all" in FFXI, most I see is 2000 people.

But do know I am speaking out of my ass, so if you have better info about this than I do, please share it. Actually curious about the amount that play on a WoW server.

Judging by the population density in both commerce hubs and other zones that I've personally seen in both games, I'm going to assume that your average WoW server is more heavily populated than your average XI server. WoW's in-game world is notably larger than Vana'diel, but I still see people all over the place in varying level ranges. FFXI has several zones which are almost completely empty most of the time. Though that is partly due to the fact that some zones in XI have become obsolete, and have no real use anymore, whilst pretty much every area in WoW is used while levelling up.
