True that, I'd still love to see a FF3 NES release though, the DS version is fine but still doesn't outshine the NES version.
Sadly however, all the imports on the VC are the actual JP versions from my understanding, and with SE's bullshit statements reguarding the VC, I doubt that day will ever come.
To SE: Take nothing from WOW. Continue to ignore the SE QQ posts.

Why wait for the VC to come through when your friend the emulator could have it up and playing 15 minutes or less after reading this post?

That's like asking "why get VC games when you can just get the ROMS!" If you'd have actually read my post... I stated that it's just not the same as having it on a console, enjoying it with a controller in the comfort of your livingroom. To each is his own.

From my experience since launch of the game, most people WILL solo to 60/70/80. (Not so much before Burning Crusade...) Or else there wouldn't be loads of complaints of people in the forums "LFG" for low level instances for hours.

Really, if you want to talk about people sucking ass, let's talk about the majority of RDMs that apparently don't have the Refresh spell.
Since starting FFXI back at the US PC launch, I've run into so many of those RDM that I can count them on one hand and have 4 fingers left over. And that was at level 41. The next day I saw him, he had refresh. Does that mean I've played with every single RDM in the game? The assumption would be ignorant if I said yes, but I have played with dozens of them.

And of course WoW has MORE players, resulting in MORE idiots... That is why I specifically used the word ratio... RATIO... aka percentage.. if you have 8 outta 10 people that are good and 4 outta a billion players that are good, the RATIO of the first is better...
FFXI and WoW have been the only 2 games I've played since FFXI's launch on the PC in the US. I bounced between the 2 when WoW came out. I would go to WoW because I would be tired of the level grinding in FFXI... but then I would come back to FFXI because I was tired of how easy WoW was in comparison and how there is nothing to do once you're at capped level unless you like to PVP (gets way too repetitive for me, and frustrating due to the previously mentioned RATIO of idiot players in battlegrounds) or have time to Raid 3 days a week.. which also gets boring after your first clear. (I've done Molten Core.. killed Rags.. got bored, came back to FFXI right before Blackwing Lair was introduced... Then during BC I did Kara, ZA, Coilfang and Eye of Eternity... got bored.. came back to FFXI right before Black Temple, then with WotLK I did Naxx.. got bored... and the pattern continued)
FFXIV will hopefully have some WoW elements, to fulfill the requirements for the average WoW attention span of a peanut, but I hope that people that prefer to group up will have a greater benefit in the game. I'm not even talking about large scale groups, but typical FFXI groups, only with a purpose other than pure mob grinding. (Questing, instance runs, etc.) The community is what made FFXI. It was next to impossible to make it to 75 without adding at least a few friends on your friend's list, assuming you don't have the personality of a cardboard box. You can easily get to 80 in WoW... EASILY without talking to a soul. You can be a terrible player because there ARE no groups to NOT invite you because you suck. You can just suck all the way to 80.
I also hope they keep PVP out of the equation, or at least be smart with the programming of the abilites in PVE vs PVP situations, because PVP nerfs always screwed over the people that wanted to do PVE in WoW... (Blizzard wasn't smart enough to keep the abilities separate like.. omg.. the ever so complex Guild Wars... /sarcasm)
I'm glad they're making FFXIV a bit more friendly to the more casual players... I just hope they don't go overboard... that was the good thing about FFXI... the community lost a lot of players that just couldn't hack it, which made the overall FFXI community stronger. Unfortunately I'm talking bad as far as a business goes, but I've learned you can't make everyone happy. I can just hope that they will go for quality over quantity.

WoW also attracts a lot more young kids. Anyone remember vanilla WoW and trying to play as Alliance? Talk about a nightmare... Join a BG and ask for a heal and the only healer says "lol no wai then they r gunna come after me next!1" or "no becuz i rp as an anti-alliance witch!1"
I know it's impossible to avoid having kids and idiots in your midst because parents and guardians have credit cards too, but man...

Some call it crazy for wanting to pay for it when you can get it for free (illegally) but having those all-time classics in your channels and playing them in their "prime" is awesome. It's kinda like a guy I know who says anyone who buys or rents a movie is an idiot because you can download them for free. :s

totally disagree. Downloading movies usually results in lower quality audio and video, and this is very annoying when you're downloading what is supposed to be a bluray quality video that's badly compressed and done. Not to mention, you often can't get the very nifty selection menus when you download, because for space and simplicity the chapters are all merged into a single video (which again hurts the quality).
Some videos are simply worth buying to support it or just because it's one of thosem ovies the BELONGs in your collection (I just bought The Fith Element on Bluray)
This is coming for a complete e-pirate, i hate paying for anything i can get for free. But some things, such as certain CDs or movies or even games, deserve a purchase. I'm a slut for collector's editions too <.<;
also, if you use a ROM+Emulator, it's legal if you own a hard copy of the game and the actual console. Hacking your Wii is also legal, so if you own the correct things, putting the emulator and ROM on there to play is by no means illegal. Also, if the game is that great, do what i do: play it for free until it's released, then buy the real copy to support it.

I've owned (at one point) any game I plan to re-purchase on the VC. I can't even remember what happened to them, but as you put it, it's my way of supporting. Plus my TV is twice the size of my monitor :s

I'd say so far I spent over 150 on VC titles, however not every gem I remember will be released on the VC sadly. So that's when I resort to ROMS.
I wish I could play some ROMs again however Vista seems to be gay about allowing some stuff fullscreen, and I can't find a gamepad I like using. Most I get do such a poor job with the D Pad unless I hit a direction dead center it'll think I ment diagonal.

When it comes to the Wii, and I don't have it modded, but I would imagine taking time to put the emulator on there is a lot quicker than downloading and paying for it.
Anyone notice how lousy Nintendo's WiFi service is? Takes forever for me to get where I want to go and get 5-6 error messages before it lets me in.

True that. I like just hunting for user names and going. Nintendo really needs to work on their internet capabilities. Pokemon D&P failed at the whole global trade on account of lack of options. Plus the friend code thing for Brawl sucks. I know a lot of people love X-box live... I've never used it, but I love the PSN where if I want to play with my friend, I just go to the menu, select my friend, and invite them to play.
And the problem with the VC is that they've gotten REALLY gay about releasing things in the USA. They released Final Fantasy I in Japan for NESVC... But it's STILL not out in the US. And I'm starting to doubt I'll ever play Enix's Illusion of Gaia again. I still need a copy of Dragon Quest III on the Game Boy Color. I got that for my sister for her birthday 1 year and she loved it. She let me keep a save on it and I freakin loved it too. DQ V on DS was pretty good too. But back to VC... Nintendo has pretty much burned out on it and has gone to WiiWare for the most part.

If I were speaking to you, and not generally, I would have quoted you. Despite what you may think, you're really not important enough to hound across multiple forums.
That said, people can still enjoy ROMs from their living room. It's not difficult to run video and audio from one's computer to their entertainment setup, if you don't want to nullify your warranty by hacking your Wii.

Wii softmodding is completely reversable. if you ever have an issue with your Wii and need to return it to factory settings, it's simply as easy as running a single peice of software to remove homebrew channel and Apps and custom insalled IOS. then you just need to manually delete nay channels you have on your wii. Also, nintendo will soemtimes even replace a bricked softmodded wii.. lol

I've always run through the staple horde instances. WC in the teens, SFK shortly after, SM in the 30s, ZF, etc. I'm sorry, but people whining in WoW about LFG for hours need to play FFXI. Except there's a big difference, at least you can get reasonable XP, and by this I mean fantastic XP, while LFG in WoW, something you can't in FFXI.

Perhaps you took my statement too literally. There are a lot of crappy RDMs, there always have been. I've played since the U.S. PS2 lanch, and the majority of RDMs my friends and I have come across, do not keep refresh up unless reminded.

Like I said, it just appears that way, because in FFXI, there aren't as many players as there are in WoW. Idiots tend to stick out in your mind, not the good players. I ran across way more idiots in FFXI than in WoW, but that's my personal experience.

Ok, so how is WoW any easier than FFXI? You tell me. Leveling up isn't any easier, it is less tedious but it's not easier. Leveling up in either game is rather easy, it is just FFXI is a time sink when it comes to leveling. There is plenty to do at cap in WoW, PvP, making gold, dailies, quests, getting achievements, running heroics, doing raids, leveling a profession. If you can't find anything to do, QQ moar. What is there to do in FFXI at cap? Camp NMs, camp HNMs, Salvage, Campaign.... if I'm not mistaken, you do these over and over and over, just like running raids in WoW... except there's a key difference, WoW constantly adds in new raids and new things to do. It takes ages for anything new to get added into FFXI. Endgame can get monotonous in both games.

Like I said before, nowadays, Blizzards nerfs are not completely screwing over PvE when they adjust for PvP. I still prefer the nerf and balance system of WoW as opposed to my SMN on FFXI that is nothing like what a SMN should be, or my BLM that is forced to manaburn because he's no longer wanted in an XP party. This has gone on for years now, at least in WoW, this stuff only stays broken for a few months, if that.

If by, "couldn't hack it," you mean some people have lives, then yes, you're completely right. I'll be honest, at the time I played the most, I was in high school and didn't have much of a life, I played FFXI all the time. When I started college, I basically quit cold turkey. Not everyone can log on all the time to camp HNMs, this alienates people with responsibility in RL, because there's no point in going to just a couple HNMs. You're not going to get gear, because someone with no life is going to be camping every HNM and have more points than you. People saying they want the game to be this way, since it makes the community "stronger," should campaign that SE put a time limit on other FF games. I mean, you should be able to hack it and beat an FF game within a time frame, right? Oh, and don't let people save it to their memory card either, just a straight run through the whole game in one sitting.
See how this is a stupid idea? That is how stupid it sounds when people are QQing over FFXIV becoming more casual-friendly. "I have no life, I should have the 1337 gearz while those stupid noobs who make the world go round and work 70 hours a week shouldn't be allowed to get my gears!"

I 2nd this.
WoW was a great game for people that didn't want to waste most of there life.
One thing I would like to see stolen in Instances. Even in FFXI if they made Dynamis Limbus etc instances instead of it's current system there would be a lot less community fighting.
There is too much drama in FFXI over shit.
