Songs not overwriting in the correct order

I'm totally confused right now.

Just did a random pick-up assault party. I was giving the melee march x2, then backing away and casting ballad x2 on myself, just like I've done a million times before.

Thing is, ballad 1 wasn't overwriting the last march, it was overwriting the ballad 2 I'd only just cast, leaving me with 1mp per tick.

Am I being a fucking noob or something?

Were you casting too quick? Ballad 1 will overwrite the song with the least duration left, since Ballads have no +2 instrument (bar relic) you have to wait 20? seconds to sing again both ballads after casting another +2'd song.

Essentially what Sofo said. You're casting fast and if the bonus duration from your +2 March instrument hasn't been used up, then Ballad will overwrite itself. For this reason, if I ever have to cast two Ballads for any reason (which is, of course, often), I cast Ballad I first followed by Ballad II. Then, at the very least, the target is getting 2 MP per tick, 3 if I'm in an Assault zone.

Just when you think you've got something pretty much sussed out. You learn something new every day.

Thanks for the quick responses.

Believe it or not, I never really did much assaults. I did check though, I'm @5k points and I'll get it.

Like other ppl said this happened cuz you're using +song instruments and since your x-song has more duration than your Ballad it will not be overwritten so you'll end with the last ballad you casted only sad.gif

One thing you can do is cast Ballad II second so you get 2mp instead of only one.

The other thing you can do is wait a bit till the other song's time is reduced (you can cure/SS/blink//pull/scout/etc while you wait) then cast both ballads and you'll get em.
