Curious as to where you found this. I haven't seen it on BG and trying to find information on Alla is like trying to locate a blue whale's G-spot.

Strong urge to keep putting SH+1 through the augment till I get agi or eva on it >.>

Just for clarification, you cannot re-augment an item, so you would have to buy a new Scorpion Harness +1 every time you got Earth Resist +11 or MND +1/INT -1/CHR -1.

What's the deal with the reaugmenting? Is that only for those new weapons?

Posted 21 July 2009 - 10:42 AM
That is correct, only the Fey weapons can be used more than once, and even then, there's a five attempt limit before the weapon breaks. Oh, and the rewards from beating the scenarios can be re-done, of course, but that isn't the same thing at all.

10 attack vs. 2 DEX. Dunno how many Dragon Harnesses I wanna gamble with here to test that really lol.
I'm going to try make a super Warwolf first.

I think this looks like a better DE/EV piece than Antares honestly. Which is pretty fucking gay.
I'm not gonna lie, this augment stuff has the right idea, but it's failing miserably. Anyone seen that BG thread with the NQ weskit that was upgraded to be better than genie/morri robe? Who's going to go for HQ items if you can just do that? Like, again, DH+1 as well, why bother? I've seen an acp augmented ruby ring better than my Triumph Ring +1 or even rarer Harmonious Rings. What about a Forager's mantle better than a Cerb+1? I won't bother thinking of more examples right now but it's pretty obvious the augment system needs a small tweak. Something to at least make it so that you can either (1) trade your HQ items to try for a better one without having to discard or get another HQ item if you don't get a negative boost or a buff you don't want, or (2) make it so the NQ items don't become better than HQ items (too late for that; SE doesn't really go back on what they've done).
Not to forget as well Treelo that crit rate caps so this could indeed be better for Evisceration than Antares and not quite so mediocre.

I would agree with your rant, Shamaya, if augments were remotely reliable or even controllable. For every insane Igqira Weskit with +6 INT, there are about 400 with random elemental and status resistances, STR, DEX, and random HP/MP augments. Unless one is exceptionally lucky (like getting a Kraken Club the first and only time you ever do Up In Arms lucky), you'll end up spending at least as much time and money hoping for a Morrigan's Coat equivalent as you could simply getting Morrigan's Coat in the first place. Same deal regarding this augment, although I really distrust this Accuracy +8's authenticity because I've literally never seen Accuracy or Attack applied via FoV Augmenting.

You wouldn't suggest that a non-augmented DH is better than Antares would you? It may be nice for those without access to Skadi/Antares, but I won't be dashing off to get it. DH is a WS onry piece, Antares can be used in numerous situations, I fail to see how adding accuracy puts it ahead of Antares.
I think you're missing the point of the augment system somewhat, though in your position I can understand why. Giving someone a random chance of getting a shit hot item for virtually nothing removes the need to pay XX million for whatever +1 you're looking for. Given the increasing focus on newer, casual players that haven't had 5 years to pimp themselves out, it's an ideal way of levelling the playing field somewhat. Frustrating for those of us who have worked like a motherfucker, but we all have equal chances of getting that wonder augment.

I haven't had time to read through the multiple dozen page BG threads that seem to spring up any time something of interest happens. I was under the impression that these things were a bit more common. Imo if it's something that you can get from 2 weeks of FoV attempts I'm not so sure...especially in the weskit's case as they're so cheap. But if it's something like a bonanza-style "congrats, you're one of the few" rewards and doesn't change how everyone aims to gear themselves, then I guess it's not really so bad.
I do think that past the crit cap the augmented DH is better than an antares harness. It just comes down to 2dex vs 10 attack, and for me that's a no-brainer. That's past the crit cap though *shrug*. Prior to crit cap my assumption is that that 2 dex is 1% crit. Of course I have (had) an antares harness for evisceration as well because I felt that the extra dex and acc dominated DH. But if you add acc to the DH...well. It doesn't have agi but then that only matters for TA+EV and I don't TA+EV, and even then.
edit:

Yeah I know what you guys wanna do, I'll let you kiss the ring. Go go DE, glug glug glug.

What's the crit cap at Mamools? It's 120 for Birds right?
For me personally as a a hume (some of us unfortunately weren't smart enough to roll Mithra at the time) I would still think I need to keep Antares around for anything tougher than Birds, and definitely anything tougher than XP mobs.
Anyway as far as augmenting, I do believe that it's sort of ridiculous that a really lucky augment can make NQ gear better than top of the line stuff. But I also find it funny how everyone used to complain about augments because there weren't any good things to augment and they never ended up well. No one's ever satisfied

No-one is indeed ever satisfied. What with the recent rampant bannings and all I'm very unsatisfied with SE's QA, even though they've done so much to combat RMT and stolen accounts int he past.
What ticks me is that there's no way to recycle HQ gear like this and "try again." Naturally people want to have the best gear, so I guess it comes down to a choice...try to beef up an NQ to be better than an HQ, or buy the HQ. I guess someone could lose a lot of money trying to make an NQ cerb mantle better than an HQ.. It feels odder to me that if one traded their CerbMantle+1, that they're stuck with those stats permanently. It's kinda lame you can't like, pay a fee of some sort to remove the augment so you can try again. But I can kinda understand that. What's even lamer though is that the stuff becomes EX, so you can't trade it. I think it'd be pretty damn cool if one could trade/bazaar these uniquely augmented items. Especially since one's junk is often another's treasure.
I think the crit cap on the more agile mamools is close to 140. I still think the augmented DH is better or at least about identical to an Antares. W/ 2 more dex on Anares, I feel that that equates to 1% crit. 1% chance of raising pDif by 1, or on average increasing your pDif over time by 0.01, which isn't very much. I'm pretty sure 10 attack would do some significant amount more. Of course there's always wsc mods to consider too but meh
