monster gloves only affects uncapped jugpets (courier carrie, chucky, diremite) as they will change the range of its randomly generated level from 0-2 levels below the bst, to 0-1 levels below the bst
pets that cap are unaffected by monster gloves. for example, pets that cap at 65 will always be 65 as long as you're 0-2 levels above their cap.
you can have level 75 pets if you cap Beast Affinity, which will add 2 levels to the cap of a jugpet per upgrade, but it cannot exceed your own level.
Fungaur Familiars cap at 65, is affected by beast affinity, and is not affected by monster gloves
Courier Carrie caps at 75, will not be affected by beast affinity, and is affected by monster gloves
if you want level 75 pets all the time, use a 65 cap jug with full Beast affinity merits

Forgive me, as I'm only 58 (put bst away for a long, long time when I got tired of trying to find solo spots that weren't taken at 56 and had to get back into it), but I wasn't aware that jug pets spawned 0-2 levels lower than your current (sans capped jugs of course)- learn something new every day! hehe I always sort of just heard (and assumed) that they spawned at your current level up til their (if any) cap... I'll go sit in the dunce chair....especially since I initially thought that Beast Affinity would mean I could have a CC cap higher than 75, which would have been pretty wicked awesome (and explain to my mis-informed mind why I had seen Carrie hitting some things for what seemed to me at the time to be a ridiculously high average damage over the years- then again I remember a long time ago being freaked out when I saw CC hitting a lowbie mob for well over the cap for my GA even fully buffed at 75 with plenty of attack, prior to additional merits being added, so evidently jugs just hit TW mobs for more than I'd suspect an equal leveled monster to be capable of)
back to campaigning to 59...yes, I should be out soloing, but I also have that sparkly new Iron Ram Hauberk to get for my Pld, after neglecting it for a long time and losing two ranks in campaign...hope to have mah hauby+1 on my bst in the coming hours! :-D
Glad I read this though, better to find out late than never...how I didn't realize there was a discrepancy in the spawn level of jugs I do not know.

BST Affinity is indefinitely for the party bst, as it adds decent level 75 WAR type jugs for low low prices.
wouldnt worry about it until you have great melee gear and a good reputation. or your other merits have been expended.

Just think of it this way...
When it comes to beastmen and their pets, they are always lower then the master themselves and many jobs have exploited these camps for easy solo play.
(Mostly BLM, SMN, BST, BLU.. ect the list goes on.)
Don't ever think that Monster Gloves are worthless because having a pet spawn as close to your level as possible should also give a slight increase in stats based on their level.
At least that's my take on how they work.
I think everyone should cap best affinity because it's even useful when your fighting NMs when there aren't any native pets around and you need to use call beast to bridge that gap between respawns.
I do agree with the points that Nattak has posted above because once you cap that ever so lovely beast affinity you can use Funguars (seedbed soil / 65 cap) again which are a pretty decent pet.
Who could argue at the price either?
They cost 8-10k a stack from Toji Mumosulah (Location: Kazham (I-8) - M & P's Market) and that's pretty much cheaper then Courier Carrie which cost around 16k a stack on Valefor.
The only problem is you can only buy this from NPC and not craft it unless someone bought a stack and then sold it on AH for 11k a stack.
Also what about those HQ tigers eh? RAWR!
