Ok, we'll assume capped h2h merits, capped kick attacks merits w/ dune boots and brutal. We will assume lv 4 fstr (str 12 higher than mob's VIT).
Capped h2h merits 35 DMG + destroyers 18 + fstr 4 = 57 DMG/punch
Capped h2h merits 35 DMG + dune boots 30 + fstr 4 = 69 DMG/kick
Assuming you are /nin and considering the fact that you have 5% da in gear that only affects punches.
2 punches 5% da per round = 2.1 punches/round
0.15 kicks per round
2.1 x 57 DMG + (.15 x 69 DMG) = Average of 130.05 DMG per attack round
adding 5% kick rate via melee hose
2.1 x 57 DMG + (.20 x 69 DMG) = Average of 133.5 DMG per attack round
133.5 DMG/round
---------------------- = 2.65% increase in DoT damage
130.05 DMG/round
Kicks get the same amount of TP as punches, so looking at your total TP per round.
2.1 hits + .15 hits = average of 2.25 hits/attack round
2.1 hits + .20 hits = average of 2.30 hits/attack round
2.3/2.25 = 2.22% increase in WS damage (via increased frequency)
DoT/WS ratio is usually in the 65-70%/35-30%. So mnk's damage is primarily DoT (65-70%) and a smaller portion comes from ws (30-35%)
Assuming 65% dot vs 35% ws dmg
(2.65 x .65) + (2.22 x .35) = 2.48
Melee hose, in this situation give an average of 2.48% increase in total damage
Cobra Unit slops 5 acc, 2.5% hitrate. In any situation where you get the full benefit of the 5 acc (You aren't hitting cap and overshooting acc)
2.5/92.5 = 2.7% increase to toal damage
Don't use Melee Hose if your acc isn't caped. (I made this topic because some mnks tp in melee hose and WS in shura haidate. The acc alone beats melee hose before even factoring in the str)

Well shit, wish I'd have known this 2 weeks ago. But it's all gravy, I got's Byakko's now. I'd assume the cobra subligar > strike subligar even more than it does the hose then? Not assuming 75 with merits, but at 68.

Reminds of me trying to compensate my lack of Byakko's back in KRT and I couldn't with Melee Hose simply because it lacks acc, would have been a fun game if Melee Hose had acc on it and the kicks, then it would have had some potential to run against Byakko's.

A .2% difference? This is deeply into the realm of irrelevant differences. A parse wouldn't even hope to pick up a difference that fine.

That's vs pants w/ just acc on them. I've seen plenty of people use melee hose over let's say Shura Haidate (Tp in melee hose ws in shura haidate). Once you add the fstr and attack you get from 5 str, increase goes up a bit.

Calculate the increase, then. The difference you're referring to between Melee Hose and Cobra Subligar is point-two of a percent. Over the course of 1,000 damage, that's 2 damage. I know small things add up, but that is insignificantly small.

You're forgetting that this is in the worst case scenario for acc pants. the lower your acc the higher the gains. I was just showing in Cobra's WORST CASE, they STILL beat melee hose.
As for Shura. I'm kinda lazy right now. I'm just gonna copy paste my OP and replug in the numbers to save time
Ok, we'll assume capped h2h merits, capped kick attacks merits w/ dune boots and brutal. We will assume lv 4 fstr (str 12 higher than mob's VIT).
Shura legs will give either +1 or +2 to fstr. +2 fstr is kinda are and I am half asleep, but we'll look at fstr+1 atm
Capped h2h merits 35 DMG + destroyers 18 + fstr 5 = 58 DMG/punch
Capped h2h merits 35 DMG + dune boots 30 + fstr 5 = 70 DMG/kick
Assuming you are /nin and considering the fact that you have 5% da in gear that only affects punches.
2 punches 5% da per round = 2.1 punches/round
0.15 kicks per round
2.1 x 58 DMG + (.15 x 70 DMG) = Average of 132.3 DMG per attack round
132.3 DMG/round
---------------------- = 1.73% increase in DoT damage
130.05 DMG/round
Assuming the same 65/35 split, str will only benefit the DoT portion
1.73 x .65 = 1.1245% total increase.
Going back to worst case scenario, 2.7% increase from acc
2.7 + 1.1245 = 3.82% increase vs melee hose 2.48% increase.
Lower acc, 85% hitrate
2.5/90 = 2.94% increase
2.94 + 1.1245 = 4.06% increase. Ect ect.

I know it's a worst-case scenario, but any Monk who lets his Accuracy dip so low that it becomes a clear-cut, parseable win for Cobra Subligar should probably just quit playing Monk altogether.
I'm not saying that people shouldn't strive for Cobra Subligar, however. The Store TP provides a secondary advantage over what Melee Hose brings to the DPS table (the -Enmity is moot). I'm just saying that the margin between these two options under any reasonable circumstance is such that bursting a blood vessel over it is pointless. You may strive to have what is absolutely perfect (on paper, anyhow), but other people are willing to make aesthetic or practicality-based decisions for something that is insignificantly inferior. A friend of mine has some of the best gear imaginable, barring his difficulty getting Ace's Helm, and is currently lamenting his bottom-rung Campaign rank. Obviously he has no need of Cobra Subligar, anyhow, but it will take him something like two and a half months to get high enough to buy it. He's not alone in occupying that situation, whereas Melee Hose are fairly easy to get if San d'Oria is feeling generous. We'd all agree that one should be striving towards Byakko's Haidate or Usukane Hizayoroi, anyhow, but there are steps along the way.
Also, I don't know what it's like for other sky shells on other servers, but the group I was in (before it started to disintegrate and I jumped ship) needed Dryadic Abjurations a lot more than it needed Byakko's Haidate. You'd be surprised how much more difficult it can be to get Shura Haidate. I say this because you seem to be implying that Byakko's Haidate is the hardest non-Usukane option to acquire and, well, mileage varies.

Shit, not only do I wish I had known this years ago, but I have also convinced people of the opposite. (hose > shura for TP) ...now I feel like a horrible person...
