I hate "goodbye" speeches (because all too often they make those "hello again" speeches all the more awkward a couple of months later...), but I'm very certain that I won't be returning to the game. I haven't really been playing much for the past year, but I haven't quit all this time just to be sure I was ready to go. And now I'm quite certain.

I just want to say my farewell to those of you in the summoner forums that I've got to know over the years. It's been great to know people who have the same appreciation of this oddball, lovable job. I've leveled other jobs, but I've come to think of myself as a summoner first.

Thanks for all the discussions and debates and for making playing a summoner a little more enjoyable!

I have tried to quit several times, and ended up coming back. I think the trick is to deactivate the ID, or delete the account. OR sell your account on EGS.

You might be right about that, but I think by avoiding the drama of trying to give stuff away I've felt less anxious about leaving. This was a gradual thing for me. I kept the account around even if I didn't feel like playing anymore so I felt could always log in if I really wanted to...

Maybe it was a waste of money to pay for a game I wasn't playing much, but I wanted to be sure I was okay with leaving before I left. It just feels like the right time.

I am the same way.... I keep my account active so when updates come I can play for a while, then quit for a while... etc...

Instead of making a whole new thread I will just add on to this one.

I am quitting as well. I will still post from time to time, maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe sign on once more to check out the new avatar, but i am done. I havent signed on in months, and no longer enjoy the game. If I ever sign on in the future it would only be to say hi in game. I will probably be giving my account to a friend of mine so darkrift will still be around, and I will keep the log in info as well.

Will I play FFXIV? Maybe. If I do i suspect I will never play it like i did XI, and because of that it makes me not want to even play it. I want to either go hardcore or not at all. So we will see.

What do i do now?

Well currently I play a lot of XBL. Halo 3, Halo ODST, Modern Warfare 2, various other small games. So if anyone wants to play with him my gamer tag is Bananachaos7. Send me a friend request and lets play some firefight.

You know what ruined FFXI for me... Salvage. Drop rates and randomness drove me mad. You miss a run and then USU 35 feet drop. /wrists
