For a long time I had always been under the impression that Wards that buff (not heal) would give xp in Campaign.
But, according to wiki, it does not except for healing ones.
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Campaign...lculation_Guide
If this is true, how do you handle Campaign in general? I like using Healing Ruby II on aoe-like nms but in general there is lacking to me if Wards do not give xp.

According to that chart, abilities that enhance other players (e.g., Protect, Arcane Circle) all contribute to your XP gain. I would be shocked that Blood Pact: Ward was excluded, especially after explicitly making it ignore party and alliance formation in Campaign.
Whether that chart is accurate or not, I do not know, but practically anything you do in Campaign contributes to your assessment, so Ward away.

Ever since the /brd nerf, buffs give basically no exp. Just like fortifications now, spam Healing Ruby II and buff every now and then.

This may actully sound a bit insane and *watches out for flames*
but i've started doing campaign as a SMN/SAM and I see a huge diffrence in my exp.
I basically leave garuda out the entire time, and spam spirit taker. With Garuda I'll use her lv 70 move, and spam Whispering Winds, so I get the pet damage and healing.
as far as the buff wards I short campaigns I usually get no exp if i do a buff. so I don't spam em as much as I did before.

I still prefer old reliable /whm in campaign myself.
/Sam is a nice way of MP gainback spamming Spirit takers, I do agree that the sub may be useful there but I simply like to have reraise as a spell.
Too many times I got killed again by some asshole bird before reaching the NPC providing scrolls.
Aside from that in some cases it's nice to have -na spells and erase.
Especially as a Windurstian stuck in the front lines between those Sweep happy Yagudo NMs that occasinally like to put out over 700 damage.
What I do and always have been doing is simply spam HR2, until today that has been the best EXP gain.
Together with Elemental Siphon and occasionally poking stuff with old faithful.

I dont really care for /sch. Its ok, but I feel its not a deal breaker. I prefer /whm. Although I think tonight im going to give /sam a try.

With /sch allowing RR it is too good to pass up.
Around how much do you all make with SMN on Campaign lately?

Depends on fight and medal, but 2~3k per longer battle (2~4 waves of mobs) is not far fetched.
It's not even close to as fast as a real merit party or even astralburn by far, but it is still a good way to keep up the ol' buffer.
And true /sch works really well too, I just need to be less lazy and get it up there.
But first, more important matters: vacation

I usually /whm cos I want RR and erase, which is so useful vs some of those campaign mobs that may hit you with debuffs like bio, bind or gravity.
my playstyle varies greatly but basically I try not to only do 1 thing (after looking at the calculation chart, i figured spreading out what i do is best)..
the bulk of my points probably come from Rage BPs like P.Claws and such. I usually do this until i have hit around 10ks worth of dmg from BPs, then i switch to my merit BPs to account for magic dmg. Healing Ruby spam is enough to cap heals especially if you have many people clustered together, otherwise i'm told Spring Water can contribute with each status removal too. I also melee with avatars out and spirit taker to keep the MP rolling.
This helps me garner like 1-2k from short campaigns easily.. and 3-5k on the longer multiwave ones (love Beau_S under allies)

I just can't get rid of 4-5/tick refresh. With /sch and Siphon it's impossible to run out of MP fast, especially if I'm spamming Healing Ruby II.
I just have to rely on my avatars more than going /whm but I really like that part, makes the job more fun to play with and when I use Earthen Ward I'm not the only one receiving benefits from it. I never melee generals because 1 AoE= dead SMNs so I just let Carby to all the dirty work. Never needed Erase tbh.

I use Leviathan for AoE cures. It's stronger, and cheaper than Garuda's and removes status effects.

Except that Leviathans spring water isnt stronger then Carbuncles "healing ruby 2"
Springwaters caculation is (Lv*3) +47.. so at 75, its a base of 272 healed, at 0 TP.
Healing Ruby 2 on the otherhand is (Lv*4)+28, Giving you a base of 328, at 0 TP.
Garudas Whispering Wind just for caculation sake, is (Lv*2.5)+16, so 203 (rounding down the .5).
The differance is in the MP cost, 47 vs 124. but carbuncle you can maintain out for free, leviathan on the other hand you would have to summon, perpetuate for at least 3 tics, and BP then release.
Assuming you get Refresh on your body, with carby your +1mp/tic idling, no summon cost.
Leviathan your paying 15mp to summon, assuming HQ staff and RR with -2 perp, your paying 6/tic for him. so assuming you perpetuate 4 tics, thats 24 +15 summon cost, 39 +47 BP cost, 86mp cost, for 272 healed..
With Carby though, you can idle with him out, Let him attack thus gaining TP, throw the 6mp cost Poison Nails when its ready, and melee alongside him for spirit taker (which for me usually hits about 100 MP minamum @218 staff skill, NQ light staff).
his gaining TP usually results in about a 450 heal, but ive gotten it up over 500 when i let him get to 300 TP.
As for my exp in campaign, im only Star §§, so my exp/min cap isnt very high, but in a decently long battle (20-30 min), i can usually net around 2.5-4k, depending on how aoe happy mobs are..
This is also why i tend to favor vunkner inlet, and i usually try to track One-Eyed Gwjaboi (sp?), Orcs are really good about using battle dance. This is also why i try NOT to use Earthen Ward, easier for me to cure the damage, then to prevent it.
Similar to spira though, ill usually push PClaws or SDive till abotu 10k damage from that, then flip to carby and heal my brains out. I havent unlocked any merit pacts yet though, so the magic damage side of things im lacking on. But i just hit 75 smn 2 days ago.

OHHHHHHH k.
If you have yet to try this in campaign ... YOU MUST try this. It requires a little bit of gear, but its super fun..... (i know i am behind... its been done before, but i love it)
Summoner / Samurai
Get a gear set similar to this.... (I tried to find a balance between haste and avatar perp -)
http://www.ffxiah.com/item_sets.php?id=101293
That gives me... 16% haste , 19 acc , 13 att. (i know not much, but its campaign who needs acc in campaign.)
eat some of this...
http://www.ffxiah.com/item.php?id=5744&...=32&stack=0
And Spam that fucking Spirit Taker like there is no tomorrow !
Use garuda , and haste yourself. Keep her out and do occasional BP's, but just make sure you keep your MP up. Grab a RR scroll, or get RR from NPC. Garuda can do everything you need... Cure, shadows, dmg, haste.
EDIT:
When its time to take on the NM like "Softstep", I back off and just send in my avatars. There is a point where you have to realize you DD'ing is worthless.

Good stuff sunshine, only Shining Ruby2 is 65 and I started Smn at Campaign @ 50, spammed cures, and sent carbie on suicide charges against the fortification.
Levi's readily available lv47 Spring Water made a greater impression against Three-eyed Prozpuz (Rng NM) the Bindga spammer in Vunkerl Inlet, Gi'Ghi Rockchopper (Bst NM) the Bind/Breakga spammer and his two petrifying Peiste in Pashhow Marshlands, Go'Bhu Herohunter the enfeeble-ga spammer who could pop up in any Bastok area, any blm/drk/rdm units/NMs, gnats, taurus, fomor, and kindred.
My Smn is 66 atm, so I haven't used SR2 that often.

something else worth noting...
In Beaucedine S (and i assume Xarca S tho ive not seen) when allies take over the area, they tend to erect Allied Mantelets alot.
these are pretty cool things that give Regen Refresh and Regain to people standing around it.. and if you're a SMN, all 3 are lovely... TP for extra Spirit Takers are always nice... if you play /SAM and DD for Spirit Takers it'll make for a nice boost too..
anywayz. what i really wanted to say about the Mantelets is that they slowly die, like those ramparts in salvage that keep popping monsters, they'll slowly lose HP until they reach 0 and get 'destroyed'. I'm not sure if the number of people leeching its aura-effects determines the DoT effect on it.. but heres something cool i found out...
you CANT cure the mantelet to slow down its death. but avatars can. so spam that Healing Ruby to buy everyone else like 10s more of Regen/Refresh/Regain. Its MP lost on your part, but gain for Allied-kind! and people thank you for it, just like they thank you when you hastega them.
sadly, the game probably doesn't recognise it either (other than healing)

That is pretty cool news.
1. I have never seen these things before and i do a good amount of campaign.
2. Hades sucks as a server... we never take over icelands.
3. I like to number things.
