Yep that's right. Atlus is making Persona 3 for the PSP. And one of the new features seems to be being able to play as either the original male protagonist or an all new female one.

Other than that I'm not sure what else will differ between this and the original P3.

I never bought FES, so I won't feel as bad buying this one.

Ah ma gawd ohmy.gif This is great news, wtf is with all of these good games being announced this year?! Its crazy cool! xD

One thing though... WTF have they done to Elizabeth?! She was freaking bad-ass beyond belief! Why replace her! D:

(Yes, I know it's a freaking figurine, finding a normal image of her is difficult.)

NINJA EDIT: Actually, note how you can play as either a male or a female protagonist... I think if you go with the male protagonist, you'll get Elizabeth and if you go for the female one you'll get Felix (which is the name of the male counterpart of Elizabeth which we see in the picture).

This is great news though, I'm DEFINITELY getting this for the PSP! P3:FES was one of the more amazing RPGs ever (Though I heard Persona 4 was better, but I havent played that yet), so I'm definitely going to play this.

EXTRA NINJA EDIT: Also found this info from 1UP:

QUOTE
Over in Japan this week, Atlus laid out the first details behind Persona 3 Portable, a -- wait for it -- port of their mind-blowing (har har har) PS2 RPG to the PSP. The title's coming out November 1 in Japan, coinciding with the release of the PSP Go in the region -- and as a result of that, the game will be available both in UMD and downloadable flavors.

Simply put, P3 Portable is an upgraded port of Persona 3 FES, itself an upgrade of the original 2007-era RPG. What's upgraded, exactly?

- You can now select the gender of your main character, a choice that affects both your personal appearance and that of Orpheus, your starting Persona. The story changes a fair bit if you go it female, of course -- for one, instead of the enigmatic Elizabeth (above), there's a new, equally shadowy male character.

- There are now five difficulty levels, with "Beginner" and "Maniacs" the new options for this game.

- Moving around the game world is quicker, because you can now move from room to room in the school with a simple menu selection.

- You can now directly control your NPC party members in battle instead of just defining tactics for them, although that option's still there as well.

No US release has been announced yet.

Yeah Atlus seems to be pumping out some good games. I'm surprised they made a new Trauma Center as well.

Finally, a justification for wasting $300 on a PSP that comes from a company other than Square Enix.

(I still never should have bought the damn thing...)

Cool. I've never played a Shin Megami Tensei game, but I've heard great things about the series.

I never got a PSP either, but now that the # of decent games is going up and the price is going down, I'm considering it...

Well there are some changes in this compared to P3/P3 FES. The main one seems to be that the game will be played in an overhead view instead of a 3D 3rd person view.

If your PSP is a model 1000 or an early 2000, hack the hsit out of that thing and enjoy your new mobile Playstation, GBA, NES, SNES, SEGA, MAME, ect emulator.

Mine's a late 2000 so i can't hack it until they get a little more advanced with the software to do it. Until then, it's a glorified DVD player on the go (i have 4 4GB sticks, all filled with movies)

PSP is the greatest system ever because of this.

Kleiner, buy an early one, swap the boards, then return the 88v3. And I am in no way condoning my own post.

I have thought about that, but i have no ability to manually do that. I would destroy them both. My plan right now is to just save a bit more money and buy an early 2000 off e-bay, and just give away my other one

I have to agree with Kleiner. I want to get a used PSP just for the hacking bit so I can turn it into a portable emulator (I know there's some devices out there that do that already, but most of them have very poor emulation. I know one I seen had serious lag issues with SNES ROMs). And a current gen for PSP games. Right now all i want is Dissidia. Though I could probably convince myself to get the FF1/2/T remakes just for the sake of being portable.

God of War was pretty good, if short. FFT and Persona 1 & 3 are my other choices. So yeah, I have only four or five games for my PSP....

I would recommend Crisis Core also if you enjoy the FFVII series. Also dying for Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep to be released. Soul Calibur and Tales of VS. also.

Tales of VS. I will probably get, but I didn't list it because I don't even know when it comes out.

This game came out on UMD and PSN today. I like it a lot more on the PSP than the PS2, it feels like the type of game that is good to have in your pocket. The game itself hasn't really changed that much except you can choose to be a male or female, and a few extra persona you can create in the game. I would recommend this for RPG fans who like time sinker games, this game will keep you distracted for a numerous amount of hours.
