Doesnt really look amazing - graphics are awesome, but the gameplay looks kinda 'meh'..
Hoping this is only because they're showing an alpha version of the game or something... beta next year please!!!

You know, the Alpha itself looks fantastic, I can't wait to see what the full version is going to be like.

I'm just wondering what the hell the 'Dodo's were doing... head-butting each other in the arse or what? o.O
Looks like they stand to smooth out the enemy behavior and battle dynamics/ character animations quite a bit. There's really no excuse for the stilted, almost automatronic motions exhibited in XI. Not in a game this much further down the line in tech- so I hope they end up with more fluid and natural movements/ behaviors.
Oh, and when are we going to stop seeing weapons magically attached to our back? Just wondering
Other than that, the graphics (for the quality of video and stage of development) look fine- I just hope there aren't any silly ass hidden mods that people will have to postulate theories about for the next 5 years, and of course do away entirely with the importance placed on specifically timed spawned hnm type mobs- no, sitting in a zone for 3 hours waiting for some damn thing to pop with 80 other people is not most people's idea of a good time!
Don't get me wrong, it all looks promising. And at least we can fizzle on with XI if we don't like it.

Wow those graphics are very fluid. I'm curious to see more of the UI and if you can move stuff around. Gameplay so far looks pretty average, but very easy to get use to.

The way it looks so far, the interface looks like a mouse/keyboard combination. I hope they use a controller feature like FFXI.

I really hope it can be played with the Keyboard only, just like FFXI. >.>

One thing I'm hoping they might adapt from WoW are separate/movable chat boxes. Being able to separate chat/damage/damage taken or what have you would be immensely more enjoyable than having to mess around with filters for every other encounter. From the looks of it so far, though, it seems they'll keep their old system. If that's the case, I hope they at least improve the chat filters so that you can filter more specific things. Could never stand having effects on party active when in 2x BRD merits or such. Just horrible spam.

Gameplay #2
Dozen of other FFXIV videos: http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?/topic/...d-all-the-time/

- Questing is kind of like WoW. (You killed Dodo: 1/6)
- Looks like stats are gonna be a lot higher than in FFXI. (Those nub characters were hitting for about 400ish?) Or maybe they just made everyone stupid strong for Gamescom so no one manages to die. lol
- Again 300 HP and mobs hitting for 1-3. Probably because of the point before.
- \"Swordplay is now 7000+\" In the words of Sundi... \"Wut??\"
- Clipping plane is beast after closely examining those screens.
- The UI looks like something that might be spit out if WoW and FFXI had sex.
- SUNDI IS BACK!? Who else is scared?
- You get Weapon Skill levels?
- Weapon skills are back lol @ RLB.
- The game looks visually amazing.
- Combat seemed really slow... But those are nub stages, not much to do but target -> attack -> use specials when possible -> ??? -> profit!

Appears they were just doing a standard quest. I noticed as they killed a mob, a "2/3" box popped up. I like that... I just hope quests givers are more noticable than in FFXI where it's all trial/error. So far, so good.

Game trailers has different videos. Theirs makes it apparent the Lalafel is the quest holder.

Also, the other shows emotes and expressions. The psyche one for Hyurs scares me a bit, but it's still cool.

As far as weapon skills go, that fighter has 1000 TP, and whenever he does a skill, it doesn't drop to 0, meaning that TP is far different that it was in FFXI and function more like MP.

Is that 1000TP a typo Vari? Or just a dumb way to stop TP burn?

Lila's run like children now instead of stumpy like teddy bears, which is nice.
The character expression video, the galka ones made me laugh alot, Hyur's did look a little dorky but still entertaining.

Those Dodos were fleeing from the player. it seems mobs drastically below your level, or certain passive enemies will flee from a threat.
If they can implement a system where monsters attack monsters realistically, i would be happy.
also, the running animations are very smooth, but when you change directions it looks terrible.. this IS just an alpha, im hoping they polish the game more.

Not a typo. Watch video 1 close. The blue bar has a 4 digit number.
