I'm having trouble with Navigating the Unfriendly Seas. The COR AF1 quest. I have the mission in my quest log. I've been trying to fish up the Hydroguage for like 2 hours now. I'm using Carbon fishing rod + Little Worm. Been fishing in WhiteGate. Any help would be appreciated. It keep saying you didnt catch anything or You're positive you don't have enough skill to reel this one in but then I lose it.

You shouldn't need any skill. Try another bait or lure

My Fishing is at 0 as well. Took me maybe 4 casts before I go it. Double check Wikia and check on the working combinations again. That's odd it would be taking that long.

on my 3rd combo now and still no luck. it will say You're positive you don't have enough skill to reel this one in." Then you dont know how much longer you can keep this up then ill lose catch. Wondering what did other people use? I've been at it for an hour now with this combo. Clothespole and Fly Lure. I've just been using combos from wiki.

It's kind of a long-shot, but have you ever fished before? When I was trying to fish up my paladin AF boots, I had never fished before and didn't realize you actually had to press buttons while doing it. For some reason, I thought it was all automated, so I failed every time (not my brightest moment XD).

An Explanation of Fishing first, equip a fishing rod and bait in your ranged and ammo slots. Then, find a body of water, place yourself at the edge, and type /fish, or choose Fish from the menu. It is also possible to set a macro by simply typing /fish into an empty macro slot.

Unlike other crafts, fishing requires a certain degree of interaction in order to achieve results. Wait a few seconds for a bite. When a bite comes, the fish's stamina bar will appear in your target window. The rod will pull to the left and the right. If your camera is facing the back of your character, move the directional buttons in the opposite direction the rod is pulling to lower the fish's stamina (its HP bar), stop pressing anything when the fish's stamina hits zero (The fish will not thrash if you aren't pressing anything), and press enter (or confirm) to reel it in.

Copy and paste from wiki

Basically, position the camera behind your character. If the rod moves left, push right. If it moves right, push left.

And don't worry, you're not the first person to make that mistake. I tried fishing in numerous places in Whitegate, including on the boats there & back, until I went to wiki to make sure I was fishing right. Turns out I wasn't.

Basicly like Arkley said, just hold down the keys the opposite direction your rod is moving (assuming the camera is behind you) once the fishes stamina (health bart) is at 0 hit enter to fish up the item/fish/mob/etc.

Just a quick note though. If you hit a button while the rod is in it's "default" position or the wrong key you'll regenerate the fish's stamina. Also if you actually catch a fish, there might be a chance the line will break (In which case you'll lose a piece of bait, or the lure if you're using one) or the rod could break depending on the fish. However if it's the Hydroguage you should have no problems at all fishing it up since you'll run it's stamina out in a matter of seconds.
