By prossess of elimination the new avatars SE spoke of in last years fanfest must be coming out next update, since SE said next fanfest we'd be asking how to use them. As such, i think its time to start speculating once more, or at least have a lively discusion on what people would like to see.

Now, bear in mind that this thread has been created by shear bordom, and should be flamed whenever possible. That being said, il start things off:

I still think Alexander is not going to happen, partially because it would be completely nerfed in order to make it happen, same reason SE gave for bahamut not being an avatar. Odin is a badass, but if defeating the Einherjar version of him is the way to get him, that would suck. So, my picks as what id like too see:

MiniCerberus: Yea, i know..bullshit thats gonna happen, but double and tripple from FF8 would be awesome although incredibly broken.
Sylph (sprite): Drains enemy to heal allys. All in all, not a bad addition, though may be rendered completely useless depending on how its made.
Kujata: Just cause an avatar that can use all elements would be nice lol.
Hades: Very simply, avatar that can debuff and debuff well would be welcome addition.

As for the "The new avatars will play differently then old ones" SE said, i got no clue what id like to see, so go on.....speculate and flame, its what KI does best.

if you have not done your wotg missions from the last update then i'm ruining it or spoiling it for ya.




the last update introduced a mission fight where a evil cait sith and atomos teamed up together.

the way they worked together was atomos would use soul vacuum that does aoe stats down, then it uses soul infusion to give all drained stats to cait sith.

cait sith's moves were regal scratch (single-target damage move), divine favor (erase and -na), mewing lullaby (sleep and reduces tp to 0 aoe), and eerie eye (gaze attack that does Amnesia and Silence.)

this makes me think that se could give us both cait sith and atomos and make it count as 1 new avatar with 6 blood pacts that do what they did in the mission fight.

remember the only reason that cait was able to summon atomos is he/she/it was in cahoots with lillith.

BTW, they haven't annouced a fan fest date, so I don't see how anything "has" to happen. SE's already been showing a trend towards driving people away from FFXI, putting off the fan fests would be par for the course lately.

we are not getting atomos here is why...

look at the circle around him in the fight, now look at the one on any of your avatars now see that only the color and size change on your avatars call where atomos is no the same at all

doesn't move and doesn't melee,
BP:ward will take enmity for pt member or members,
BP:rage turn dmg taken or total enmity in to a non-elemental blast
2hr AoE enmity reset, every one losses hate the mob(s) be come(like a bst using Leave) unaggressive and will not agro and stay clamed for for a shot time. ie will stop hitting ppl unless osme one hits it


self buffing melee

a avatar with high melee speed/acc,
BP:ward, will effect his/her melee attck (+acc +att +crit% en-(gameday), and wishful thinking one that will convert dd delt to mp for the smn)
Bp:rage, skill that can close SC, or maybe Close SC then MAgic burst it him/her self
prem =/> then that of are ele, to make up for the wishful thinking Blood pact
when under the effect of Astral Flow all his BP:w are 2x
(yojinbo is the avatar that pops in to my mind for htis)

last but not lest an avatar that you can give basic commands to but realy just dose what it wants(it saddens me to think this might be it)


edit: as long as im talkign crazy some skill i wish to get from new avatar but will not BP rasie and AoE tp over time for pt mebers, (i think its regain? make it as strong as the drk ring, form Pulling the strings)

i wish u'd posted in an older thread. that way we have more info and speculation juice to work with.

next Fanfest isnt here yet, but i fully expect the avatars (or at least 1 avatar) to be out before the end of 2009. The next version update will be in late Oct or early to mid Nov, based off the release date of Vanadiel Collection 2 in japan, which will include all 3 add-on scenarios, which hits shelves in Japan on like Nov 14, i can't remember the actual date.

I do expect to see the next avatar in the game by then. Also I'm looking at Alexander. By process of elimination, he will be nerfed yes.. but I think the avatar Alexander won't be the same as Ghatsads rebuilt automaton structure but in its true celestial form.. therefore it would probably get an entirely different movelist / BP list.

If we actually look at facts that are in the game right now (meaning no assumptions made) there are only two candidates right now to be summonable avatars.
Let's start with those that don't have any supportive proof in the game atm:

Atomos: he is not a terrestrial nor a celestial avatar. Either there's a third group we're unaware of or he's simply not an avatar. Yes, Cait Sith has a summoning animation when he calls him but the same is true for any enemy beastmen summoning their pets. Better not jump to conclusions yet.
Cait Sith: Again there's nothing in the game even hinting at her being an avatar. She also lacks the "glow".
Ixion: Like Atomos, there's no proof of him being an avatar. He has potential though because in the game we have Dark Ixion and not the normal version. Anyone who played FFX International or the EU version probably knows what I'm talking about.
Bahamut: SE themselves said that he won't be one, but we all know how reliable they are with info. Possible but not likely.
Phoenix: Wouldn't make any sense honestly. Unless we go to the Far East that is.
Which leaves two more that are my candidates:

Odin and Alexander: I know, Odin is the boss of Einherjar and Alexander is the final boss in ToAU (well not really, Alex is possessing the Iron Giant actually) but there is a small thing that I don't think is completely out of place.
In the last cutscene of ToAU that takes place in the palace, Shantotto asks the Empress if Windurst could investigate the two Astral gates that showed up recently. These gates lead to the Astral world (basically where we fight the 6 celestial avatars) but there's no way to get through them. Considering the same group that developed the forks is supposed to be studying these I guess they're very strong possibilities.
Unless SE put that thing in the game for no reason but I feel that it's an unsolved matter if they don't address this.
