first, crunshii seems familiar, second yeah shipp I can see your beef. That is kind of bogus that they don't release at the same time and it'd be super gay if you had to buy a copy for each console just to not miss the first 6 months of the game, but i hope you get on this I want some people I know from the first one. Third in regards to my previous comment of remembering people Khalea, Gesthal, and Rcade better jump on again... there was some other mithra I can't remember's name and Tomiko was also familiar, I dunno I just didn't care for how simple WoW was compared to FFXI I always wanted that skill chain element back.

Interesting analogy Ship, but if SE had to release on both consoles at once then wouldn't that mean a delay on the PC version if its already ready? beta for 6 months and then release it right when Cata comes out? wouldn't that mean a fail launch because of the huge competition? I agree SE screwed us big time but if they want a successful launch they will need start now.
It is being released simultaneously worldwide...everyone is getting each version at the same time as everyone else..for each system.

geez... i wanna come play with all of you guys, you seem to have much more fun than ramuh.....
I will be busy grinding out multiple max levels before PS3 people can even play.
I will be dual boxing as well, in order to attain that goal.
HOW IS THAT FUN!?!?!?!?? ITS HARD WORK!
Edit: I was the first DNC to 75 on my server, so leveling is a joke after a while, especially when you PL yourself with a 2nd account.

This is "true" but it's also deceiving wording, and SE didn't even pull the, "We said it was a simultaneous global release... but we didn't say that both the PC and PS3 were launching together, hur hur hur!" line. They actually just said recently that they ran into "technical issues" that held back the development of the PS3, so they meant to release them at the same time, on both platforms.

The thing is, they were developing on crystal tools which was a "multi-platform" engine. So one of a few things happened:
1. Crystal tools isn't as good as they touted.
2. They planned this staggered release from the start, and just lied to the loyal fans (as usual).
3. They decided to rush the PC version to get it out before Cata, instead of completing the whole beta process which they wanted.
4. They really did run into some problem... within 2 weeks... that causes a half-year delay on a game...
The majority of players are more than likely going to be on PS3 when this launches, just like how the majority of people played XI on PS2 in the first year or two. After saying for over a year that it will be a global release on both the PS3 and PC, and then within 2 weeks, they run into something that will cause a 6 month delay on the PS3, a lot of PS3 users are finally giving SE the finger (or at least saying they are) like SE has to the people who have paid their paychecks for years. I don't think the game is personally going to be polished come September 30th. There are so many things that SE has not released details on, that this just screams, "OH MY GAWD, CODE PC!!! EVERYONE TO PC VERSION DEVELOPMENT!!! MUST RUSH BEFORE CATA!!!!" So if they end up launching with 50% (a very generous estimate) of the total launch population, plus it's an unfinished product that still has bugs, it's going to take a much bigger hit than if they waited until both version were finished. It's going to be like every other MMO that has tried this strategy against WoW, they've rushed development to compete, and the end result is a product that people don't even bat an eye at within 2 months, because it was broken at launch.
As much as I want to play 14, I'd love to see this happen and bite SE in the ass. Maybe then, they'll finally start getting their shit together without pandering solely to the JP media and community, while the vast majority of their profit comes from EU/NA regions. Maybe then, they'll finally stop being so secretive as if their games are confidential government documents that are too good to be seen by the public. Maybe then, they'll stop lying to their customers and later blaming it on "sudden technical issues" or PS3 limitations, or a mistranslation. Seriously, I have never seen a company reuse the mistranslation error so many damn times. It's amazing that their localization team can freaking translate every line in an MMO flawlessly, but they can't seem to find a damn translator that can correctly translate a fucking 30 second answer to a question. Then again, FFXIII's translation was missing the whole Vanille/Fang lesbian subtext and, you know, the whole "promise" that they made to each other that was the entire BASIS for the game.
Yeah, call me bitter, but each day my excitement for 14 dies a little more and shifts gears to getting ready for Cataclysm.

I can understand the frustration. I played 11 for almost 5 years before leaving for WOW... but after 3 years of WOW i'm over it. and ya, cataclysm sounds cool, but to me its the same old shit in a new can.
I cant stand the weekly constant maintenance that goes on for a full day on WOW... sure they had maint in 11, but no where near the amount. No where near the down time. Every company has its flaws and its issues. It's all in what you want. I want to play 14 more now than I did three months ago, will i be upset if there is increased downtime for pc users on launch? sure - but its a new game. every new game has flaws, as did wow.
I'm going to be prepared for it, so it wont bug me as much. If you expect the worst, sometimes you get better and can be happy.

wow not seen some of these names in quite awhile lol.
I've not played an MMO in quite some time but against my better judgment I pre-ordered FFXIV.
You gonna start a LS Someonher? Would love to play with some people from back in the day.

Heya SC! I'm not sure if I'm gonna start an LS or not. I kinda planned on it, but I just got a new job so I don't know if I'll have the time. But I definitely plan on playing and I'd love to play with Unicorn peeps.

Tuatini from Unicorn will be playing FFXIV. I've been playing the Beta with my wife, Pusnboots, and two brothers Lothiden and Nikojin. We are all excited to start playing the final version when it's released! Shout out to SCrockstar, good to see a familiar name! Was wondering if anyone here has seen or heard from Suntzu or Pooont, or where I could get in contact with them? Hope to see many more familiar names in FFXIV!
