Is Disseverment a Necessity?

My suggestion is to stop lvling jobs and put your effort finishing, sea, toau, zm, so you can get rings, earrings and unlock some areas besides blue magic. Isn't so hard how you make it sounds, just read on wiki about every mission and try to shout and find the right people and if you like how they play you can try to set to finish cop with them or at least 1 or 2 guys.
I got 2 chars and both got done everything, also both time after 5.3 form a set with 3 anothers guy and get it done in 2-3 week (start to end) on cop.

level blu and focus on cop while your taking it up. grabs some freinds and like a certain redneck comedian says git'r'done.

standing on the cliff overlooking tavnazia standing along side the people i finished cop with is probably one of my most treasured ffxi memories.

My BLU is only level 5, but I'm going to be starting it as soon as I get DNC to 37. I know I've got a while before I would even have to worry about Disseverment and other things from Sea, but I figured I'd ask while I was thinking about it whenever I made the original post.

oh shit i thought you where sounding like you where 75 and asking that I do not know what i got that from, for that im sorry.

im not sure if you understood this yet but i can explain why these sea spells are imporent to us:

we get a 9 point auto refersh from them or 11 point that is for more of a str build for cannonball, plasma charge is big for this.
Saline coat+ vert cleave is a good def bonus set +with some vit form these spells, again good for cannonball build.
Disseveremnt is like.. uh picture asuran fists for mnk or guilotine for drk, its good for weaker mobs, merit mobs so forth but on harder things you want to sata one hit ws ( our cannonball is our WS for that)
some people also may cast disseveremnt on hard mobs time to time just for the poison effect as well, i am not 100% sure but i think the posion effect from the spell is the strongest a PC can use as well

disseverment allows us you equip an acc bonus with fren rip witch is a good spell to dd with. in other words you are not really wasting points on equipping acc bonus.

like some others did, i kinda level blu with sea progress, i also did not skip on spells when i leveled blu, the only exception i had was body slam.

or new spells, i still have not came around doing iceland past, only ones i miss now

Oh well, I think most of ppl call Utsu to that tool :P
Also eh, when i lvled cor myself I used Evoker roll (40) and healer (25) , those 2 are a great help for healers :P.

I was the healer as well, did not really need them, though i did 2 hr on my self a few times.

Ugh, three pages of this...I'm betting most of it is flaming so I passed it up.

But first off, BLU the lolDRG of '09? Sorry sweetheart, thats PUP. Now I can list the 10+ things that are wrong with PUP (as I am also a 75PUP in addition to a 75BLU), but this is the BLU forum. Head over to PUP forum, you will find plenty of topics on PUP problems using the search function.

Oh, and a BLU in merit pts? I don't know where u play but in Asura, atleast, because you have "mage" in your name and a relatively high MP pool means you are automatically disqualified to be in merit pt unless your a rdm/whm. Most BLU's 70+ are reduced to campaigning, level syncing, or solo'ing. Some are lucky enough to get into a BLU Burn...which is to say one of the greatest, and saddest, things ever. 1 colibri, 5 disseverements.....almost makes you wanna call PETA.

Now back on topic: to answer your question: its both yes and no. If your a BLU75 with sea access, then its a definite "Get off your lazy ass and go get it" yes. Nearly all the spells learnable from sea are very nice to have and as just a point of personal pride as a BLU you should work on getting all the blu spells in the game. Dont skip any.

Now on the other side of coin, no it is not a neccesity persay. Since your BLU is only lvl 5, you have plenty of time to work on CoP as well as you have other things to deal with on your early BLU so don't fret about spells that are waaaaay down the road. Once you reach 70+ on BLU, then you can fret about sea spells if you dont have access there yet =p

Level BLU whenever you want to, it can be a boring day(s) just sitting in whitegate waiting for a shout (or shouting as well) for a CoP mission you need. If you get BLU to 70 before you have completed sea access, thats when you can drop everthing and go at it hardcore. Till then, relax. Sea ain't gonna go anywhere, it still provides an endgame challenge unlike sky.

Just because someone said no in this topic dont make them gimp. You wanna know gimp? Try watching a BLU/THF melee and DD with CASA DS decked out in INT and MND gear, AND blowing his/her entire mp pool on 1 freaking mob. That. is. gimp. Learn the difference.

I've only had BLU at 75 for about a month now, and as I said before I'm already close to sea with a reliable static group. I'm not defending him because I'm "gimp", I'm doing it because I truly believe you can play the job and be very effective without sea spells. Even after I get them, that's not going to change my opinion.

I called him an asshole because there's a difference between saying "You won't be good at your job" and "You're a fucking gimp".

I know I'll never get anything across to elitists who believe dealing .4 less DPS is the equivalent to being unable to function in real life, though, so let's just quit now. This question's been asked a million times before and it always gets the same answers; the OP should have just used search.

Elitist, Elitist. Players can do it, since is a game, not real life, so why failing at a game? I mean, admit there's better and aim at it, instead of wasting time saying i'm just fine i'm just fine. No one kills you if you say you sux, instead everyone would kill you if you say sux is pretty decent and you live with it.

And blu was my real first main job and i did CoP with it. And i hate the word elitist.

Haha...I was just thinking that.

IMHO, do your best to get Sea and its skills. Get a group and work your ass off. If by the level you can use it you haven't reached Sea, at least you're
1) On your way there
and
2) Trying

The only people I absolutely can't stand, in any game, whether it's FFXI, EQ, WoW, etc, are people who don't try. An example (since WoW is easy to use) is when I'm running heroics, sometimes I get people with "meh" or even "ugh" gear. But if they try their hardest (push buttons hard and don't stand in fire), then I'm cool with it. If they go "HAI GUYZ I HAZ BAD GAER SORREH LOL" and proceed to suck, using that as an excuse, then fuck that, they're kicked within seconds.

But if we're looking at this from a "Do you need it to be competitive with other classes/other BLUs" then yes, Sea spells are fucking awesome.

Yes disseverment is a necessity. Being a blu without it hurts yourself and others, lol

I forgot how rabid some people can be on here, lol
