If one were to start a new account on FFXI... how hard would it be to level 1 through 75? Do new people still join and play? Or would it be impossible to find a party? Basically would I be stuck in valkurm dunes until FF14 comes out, looking for party? I used to wait a while sometimes for a group, but there was always people looking who I could form up with.... are those days in the past? Is it literally impossible to find a group now, because its a dead zone and nobody plays/levels?
How is the server in general? If you /sea all.. how many people are on at a given time? Are there still all the needed items on the auction house when you need them? From what ffxiah.com has shown me, prices indeed have gone way down on most items.
Doubt I'd ever get 5 to 75 again though, let alone 100s of rare/ex endgame items. Just need something to cure boredom when it comes up.
Dragoon?

People still play. So yeah you can easily. Not sure if you know about Level Sync yet, but go look it up, makes leveling 10 times easier.

if you're just looking to "cure boredom", why not play a f2p?

I've been trying that myself man, and well...
They just aren't fun... I've tried Sword of the New World, DDO, Rappelz, and a few others and compared to FFXI and WoW they are just not fun at all. Maybe it's got to do with the HORRIBLY coded graphic engines that lag despite looking leagues behind FFXI, or maybe it's the horrible lack of story/organization (in Rappelz case), but I think it's better to just sink the 12 bucks and enjoy yourself than suffer through dealing with gravely under developed games.

Looking for a game I already know and know well. And for something with a more relaxed gameplay that I can AFK and come back not pwned on the floor.
I read about lvl sync. Looks pretty cool. However, does it work in practice? Is everybody out there willing to lvl sync in order to group up and get shit done?
Do people still do ZMs and CoPMs? The other missions seemed to be pointless (ToAU I am looking at you!!)
How is the Diabolos server doing in general? If you /sea all.. how many people are on at a given time? Are there still all the needed items on the auction house when you need them? How is it getting an endgame LS?

What about ground kings? Poisoned monopolized them to a ridiculous degree when I quit (that was why I quit, I didn't bot and the ONLY items I needed were Ridill and Adaberk, which you couldn't get without cheating). Are ground kings still nothing but drama and cheats and pathetic botters? How is the population on the server now?
Are there any good AND open linkshells left on Diabolos?
