Yeah, most their work is going be put forth into he new IV and the expansions/adjustments that game will eventually need.

I am not liking the gameplay of IV however, seems too much like they fell for the "Lets make the battleplay like World of Warcraft" or "Oblivion"

I know this is over a year old, but when did the battle ever look like WoW or Oblivion? FFS, WoW and Oblivion are completely different.

Yes it did.

A nice reward, it'll bring some life to FFXI, but it hasn't saved the expansion so far. Campaign is Harder with the less valued rewards. All it's good for is doubling the chances to finish VNM requirements for Empyrean weapons and the WoE access for the coins (if you can keep out the leechers).

Fairly weak augments for the most part, the only thing that really stands out to me personally is the counter+3.

WotG was abysmal. The fact they needed to do a mini-expansion series in the middle of WotG, speaks volumes of how bad it was. I'm not completely sure how one earring is going to breathe any life into the game though. If one item breathed any life into the game it's probably any item from Abyssea more than WotGs shit reward. People are rushing out to get Afv3, not finish WotG.

Every single thing about WotG is completely forgettable. The level cap rise is to blame for that (though those evolith armor and weapons were never very hot), but even then that just shows a complete lack of planning, which is quite the accomplishment when you draw it out for four god damn years. At best they can make WoE into a serious event and not just the "lazy-mans Empyrean weapon" event, but given its current structure (or apparent lack of) I think it will always remain trash. Though they do keep mentioning major changes to it, but seeing Byakko's Haidate augmented via synergy with +1MP really dulls my hope from their already ambiguous statements.
