I thought the new batmobile was pretty badass too.

Indeed, is there anyway we can get a Mod to just delete this shit? I really had high hopes for this thread.
Most of the serious stuff was covered before the Drk/Mnk dude came in anyway. Only thing I can add is how decent Dread Spikes can be with a decent setup in case shit hits the fan whilst tanking serious stuff.

u kno i did try /smn once but it didnt work out because it takes too long to cast a carbuncle but if they didnt take to long to cast then i guess it would b okay because theyre good at holding hate like we are and then you got 2 tanks instead of one oh and saxon i did try subbing lbm once but dintdt liek it cuz i didnt have cures but the ice spikes was cool but i like the look of blaze spikes more so it helps me tank more if i go sj rdm with blaze spikes the free warp is nice so if im going to die i just warp out and i stay alive thats a good point ill have to try that more often did anyone here try going sj bard because mazrukz is a good amount of hate its like omg the bomb and then i can do ballad myself so i can kite with mazurka and get mp refresh with ballad its so sweet

Don't forget that as /smn you get auto-refresh trait that is better than brd so you don't waste time singing D:
On topic, I'm interested on drk tanking too since after i finish my sch (38 atm) i'll put my efford again on my drk (57). Very nice things before the mnk dude appear.

I'm wondering what the resistance rate is like on Dread Spikes on endgame mobs, if anyone knows toss me a shout out.

this is something i've been wondering about as well. Been messing around with spikes on mnk mobs in dynamis recently. It wears off pretty quick if you're getting hit hard but the first few hits is for full hp (300+ easy) i'm not sure what the cap is on it (maybe something to do with your dark magic skill vs your max hp?) if someone who's actually tested it can answer it would be cool.

The cap is always 50% of your max HP, and the amount of HP drained in proportion to the melee hits relies on your dark magic skill.
And I don't know what the resist rate is like on HNM, I never got to Drk to them ;(

It seems dread spikes is 100,75,50% return on damage. On harder mobs like Khim it is generaly 50% return but on HNM I prefer a 50% return because the spikes last twice as long. You should have a solid support team and 2-3 hits at 100 is not as life saving as 4-6 hits at 50.

I just assume it's because the bigger hnms have a natural mdt trait no?
Adding on what's already said tanking on drk is one of the easiest things in the world, you're just doing what you normally do. Dealing damage. We just have the added benefit of being able to spam spells to even further solidify our hate. On timmy not only do I shorten the fight but I can guarantee that no blm's gonna get drawn in, no matter how good they are

what if you don't really have a "solid support team" with wyrm experience? about how far up the ladder would you say you can go, and what kinda key pieces are you looking at aside from hp gear?

Besides the basic stun sleep sleep2 bind aspir tank order, drain and drain2 work well also (might have missed it in previous posts, but it's worth a mention if it hasn't been). Drk/Nin is a very exciting tanking combo from what I remember on a friends acct; being once a main nin tank. From a fun perspective though, I think aspi was the more fun mob, everything else was simple. However, I didn't get to try aspi on drk so that's a different opinion. I'd imagine the same result though from an nonenfeebled aspi, shits always fun IMO on nin >

I've been looking to tank stuff on Drk. This topic has helped me look into the options since I go to dynamis 95% of the time on Drk and when both tanks are down, it comes down to the Thf and/or the Wars to tank. I'd like to step and tank if push comes to shove.
