Don't use fucking eva past 60 it's useless, you're not going to dodge shit except the hate.
Haste + Slow and you'll be fine on shadows.
Oh my gosh... eva, I must be back in 06.
Go put your Denali Bonnet and eva gear back on. are you really that retarded Shadowdereapz, unless you're one of those people who can't count to three and maybe then I'll understand your broken-shit logic.

I find it funny that you insult my intelligence, when my point on evasion is clearly valid.

Truthfully, ninja can evade if you have a good evasion setup. A truly skilled ninja will rarely/never get hit, and laugh at mobs attempts to actually hit him. Just because YOU can't evade well doesn't mean the rest of us can't evade.

The more the mob misses you = the less shadows you loose = less utsusemi casts = less shihei used = less money out of your pocket.

As for holding hate, I do just fine. I held hate off a RNG buddy of mine I was leveling with 40-75, and I managed to hold hate off him frequently, and when I lost hate I could almost always get it back and that was pre-yonin update.

EDIT: as for your post I missed while typing that, not all mobs die that quickly, and the fact that I save ni for when shit goes bad on nin. Most situations with yonin+my evasion set I can go Ichi > Ichi > Ichi forever sometimes, depending on attack speed of the mob I am fighting.

Plus with Yonin in effect, you are not gonna be able to hit much anyway.

Mobs such has Colibris are weak as shit and imps too so having acc + atk will benefit more than eva. And by using Yonin and eva your only source of emnity usually Provoke sense you won't be able to hit the mob with -acc and eva gear. Anything like a ws from a dd job will already take hate off you thus making you wait another 30 for the same emnity you get from Provoke, yes you do lose the emnity you get from Provoke after 30 secs which grants no advacing to the hate list without hitting the mob.

Edit: Do you use Koga Chainmail?

You have to realize that it's just as easy to mix ACC and EVA as it is to mix ATT and ACC. The issue with ATT is often comes with -EVA, which regardless of your argument, can turn a situation against you. Haste > ACC > EVA > ATT.

Thank you Aliadim, that's exactly what I was talking about. ACC is always a good thing to have, but -eva is just plain stupid on nin.

It's not hard to mix acc/evasion/haste.

And as for your question about if I use Koga Chainmail, I do use it, but the difference with that peice is it has NO -EVASION on it, unlike hauby's -20. As I said before I have multiple sets for nin/war Dependant on what I am fighting/tanking.

I'm not arguing that ATT and ACC gear is bad, I'm just arguing that -evasion gear makes it more likely for you to lose shadows faster then if you didn't have them.

As long as a monster has Elegy and you have Haste, you shouldn't EVER get hit with shadows down by a normal melee swing of an exp mob. No matter how much -EVA gear you wear, the mobs just don't swing fast enough to take down NI->NI (->Possibly Ichi) as long as you have good haste gear for casting. By the time the mob swings 8~11 times.. it should be dead or you should have a new party.

I went the full DD rout but would pop off the Haub+1/Spikes and put on Scp+1 and an evasion earring/parrying earring if it seemed like my recast wasn't going to be up in time. Never really had a problem holding hate... but I was also using the best possible gear and would offhand kc in most situations :o
And yes, it outparsed the fuck out of 2 katanas.

As long as the nin is not getting hit it's not a problem, but I have met some who wear -evasion gear and then start complaining that they can't keep shadows up....

TBH though, the nin in DD gear would put out more damage, but the nin in evasion gear will get hit less.

I myself liked to have EVA/ACC gear on most of the time when I tanked in EXP partys. All I am trying to say is that an EVA set can be a useful thing to carry around, as your going to play hell trying to get Ichi off with a bunch of -eva gear on.

The number of people in this thread giving advice when they have no business doing so is alarming. Once you hit the mid-fifties, you're no longer a tank. You're a mediocre DD that happens to mitigate damage better than other people. Unless your DD are holding back to the point of counter-productivity, you're not going to hold hate, so make yourself useful and speed up the kill.

And as far as end-game is concerned, it takes a lot of finesse to make ninja worth a damn, so if you're not even capable of maintaining a shadow-cycle with elegy, you should probably take up a job that requires a tad less thought.

Ya, it's pretty amazing. Now that I'm back in FFXI, leveling my corsair in meleeburns, after taking ninja to 75 twice, it's like- wtf did they do to this job? Ninja used to be awesome, great tank, good DD.

It's pretty much impossible to tank around the mid-50s. Your SAM, DRG, Gaxe warrior, DRK, these are the people who are going to be holding the mob, or bouncing it back and forth. You can get a first voke in, and if you have a thief (not sure why you'd want one), you might have hate at a few other times. Your damage is nowhere near high enough, your WS are nowhere near good enough, and the lolmental wheel is useless. The sensible thing seems to be full DD gear and just come along for the ride.

Thanks for ruining what was a very balanced job Square-Enix

Um...NIN was kind of always crap damage next to other DDs at most levels. Sure, SE hasn't done anything to help that, but unless you're Q_Qing U/U from four years ago hasn't done much to hurt it either.
