Strikes me as a bit different than the populist evolution of language that Patrick was espousing in your pet thread, a topic on which he was more or less correct (though I disagree with his defense of "strategery" as holding meaning beyond its own speaker's stupidity, unless used ironically).

I don't see how Path's argument in that thread gives anyone free reign to cock-bungle random concatenations of sound together, slap a definition on them, and claim they're English. Rhadamantis was confused, he wasn't using slang.

Waiting on Path before I give my full rebuttal, but at what stage does nonsense become slang? And slang to common word? There's got to be some sort of authoritative source on this... If it was indeed Rhad mixing native lingo with English, then we fall into the pitfall of Path's argument "I bet you become rabid when people use Spanglish."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Rhad, I'm attacking what I view as Path's duplicitous stance on what a word actually is and when it has an appropriate use.

Why is this so hard for you grasp? Firefeng just explained it for you. Moreover, I asked you back in that thread to provide a definition for "word," in addition to repeating that obliquely just a few hours ago, and you keep refusing to do it.

This is painfully simple. If a lot of people understand what a combination of sounds means, it's a word. This is the most basic possible definition. IF comprehension THEN word. How many different ways do I have to type this? Provide your fucking rebuttal explaining why comprehended sound cannot be a word.

Keep talking, still waiting for it. Pretty good at chucking those red herrings, by the way.

Right, so: IF Rhad's local population identifies with that word, they comprehend, THEN it is a word? You're right, it is pretty fucking simple. Why are you fighting this?

Or are you saying there are different qualifications that something, as a unit of language, can be considered a word? And if so, what are they? I know this isn't exactly a science, but at the same you can't leave it up to subjectivity, otherwise we find ourselves in a situation exactly like this - arguing over the validity of a single word.

When the hell did this become about liking me, again?

I have enough stalkers and fans haters in the internet as it is. Unfortunately you just don't measure up for me to care enough; two lines is the most attention I can give you. :/

Yeah, no, fuck-nugget. No one understands what Rhadamantis was trying to say. I'd ask why you have so much trouble with the concept of comprehension, but the irony hurts too much.

Even after I explained what I tried to say? I know I'm difficult, but it's not like I type hieroglyphs.

If someone other than Rhadamantis had understood what he wrote, then yes, exactly. Since no one did, as I've yet to find any incidence of those letters outside of this conversation being understood by another, then it is not being understood. It seems to be a common invented word among non-native speakers, though, so maybe it lives a life of its own where rational roots don't dare tread. It's nice that you're finally grasping that universality is not a prerequisite, although I guess you're a little too dense to recognize how badly you damage your own argument by ignoring responses I've already posted.

I'm not fighting "this," whatever the hell your redneck, illiterate, dogfucking mind thinks "this" is. I am responding to an arbitrary and ill-thought-out taunt that is once again making you look like the horse's ass that you are.

Truthiness, but yeah. I say we just accept the fact we can invent new words all the time. It had to be done at some point to have the english language we have now, why not keep expanding? People invent new words all the time, especially when drunk or high.

Edit: Bah, Vig beat me to it. lol Love your sig, though. :3 I bought that DVD a while ago and loved it. lol I wish they had made more episodes, though. D:

I'm not saying every girl who has turned me down is shallow, I'm saying the ones who only date the skinny, pretty boys are. More or less, the point I was trying to get across is that the women who claim they will date a guy regardless of looks but have a dating record that looks like an Abercrombie & Fitch catalog is what pisses me off. I, myself, have not had high standards but I certainly don't date the bottom of the gene pool, neither. If I was to rank them I guess the lowest I've gone was about a 4-5 and the highest was a 9? But that all depends on the persons perspectives and personal standards. Either girls in my area just have high standards or I'm really an ugly fuck. lol

Edit: I get what you're saying, Nancy, I think I'll try that out more.. For some reason I always felt bad being a dick to someone, but when you put it that way, I kinda get a feel for how to act. Thank you, I hope it works out for me. lol That was probably about the best piece of advice I've gotten for my situation.

I love love love this argument.

How about you try lowering your standards if you think a girl should lower her standards for you? Why don't you go date pot-bellied Sally sitting over in that corner at the club, I'm SURE she's a nice person on the inside, but you're just a shallow dick who wants the prettiest girl possible.

Am I right at all on this? I'm pretty sure I am, because when I hear this argument in real life, it's always coming from some overweight guy who wants the guy with abs and pecs, or the girl with the body of a model. Those pretty people are shallow assholes for working on their bodies and wanting the same from their partner, damn them to Hell for having standards!

Why don't you try working on your body if nobody pays you any attention? It's not just for aesthetics, it's also for health.

Oh, I'm sorry - you must have me mistaken with that guy (you) who dates someone for weeks and only ends up holding their hand, and not the suave sonofabitch that I am.

Maybe if you tell her that her hair is pretty enough she'll let you brush it - then you can watch Steel Magnolias together and have a good cry.

Oh my God, that is probably the funniest thing I will read all day.

It was only ever meant to be three parts. Joss Whedon produced it during the writers' strike, so he had to pay for it out of his own pocket (and, as he has said, call in some favors and make some favors). That's why a lot of the cast members are people who worked with him on Buffy. The news anchors are Dave Fury and Marti Noxin, co-producers. Nathan Fillion (Cpt. Hammer) was Caleb in season 7 and played the captain in Firefly. And Felecia Day (Penny) played a potential slayer in season 7. Also, the Bad Horse Chorus was comprised of Whedon's brothers (one of whom worked with Felecia on Do you Wanna Date My Avatar).

But, if you want more of the Doctor with a Ph.D. in horribleness (sp?), Joss has dropped many hints that there will be a sequel. Or prequel. Or something.

Having only dated a hand full of people, I feel my opinion would be rather biased in regards to to this topic. I don't quite understand how people have so much time for relationships, I honestly find them temporally taxing.

I'm still primarily worried about myself and my future, I don't need someone else clouding it up.

That's awesome, I hope they do. I wanna start watching The Guild, too. I got addicted to that song recently. lol

Also, Shippou, you're completely wrong. My standards aren't high at all. Honestly, I think it's just bad luck. I'm starting to hang with this one girl from work (albeit my dislike for dating co-workers) who's pretty cool and hopefully later this week things will be going well~

Unless you somehow magically fall into the 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000975% of people who pair off and each establish successful careers beyond the place of initial meeting and working, of course.
