Has FFXI really lost its self to the rest of the online role playing games?
I recently reactivated my FFXI account with my character Avazen to give me a past time.
I tried Wizards 101, Empire, Adventure Quest, Mech Quest, and others and am totally bored with them all.
I even tried Warcraft and got bored with that one also.
For some reason, I keep finding myself coming back to FFXI for one single reason ... this is the one game that grew my confidence and had many that was willing to learn from me and others.
I miss that. Now that all I have known are gone from FFXI for good, is there any way to regain that commeraderie once again?
It would be great to have organized virtual social networks ingame once again where everyone gets along and there is no bickering, bashing, or flaming others for no particular reason.

You could always--as crazy as it sounds--pay for just one account. And God forbid people stop playing their MMOs to have real meals instead of getting their only nutrition from doritos and hot pockets just so they don't to leave their chair. >_>
And maybe it is time to stop sitting alone and drinking while playing an MMO, because despite what you may think, that isn't any different than sitting alone drinking without playing an MMO.
I'm sure a lot of people are relieved to know FFXIV is supposed to be significantly less time-consuming compared to FFXI, which should make a real life a little more possible even when you're a part of end-game.
I honestly hope there is no real form of end-game in FFXIV, but that is just wishful thinking. Gotta have a reason to advance your character after-all.

when you share a bank account with your wife, and she also plays the game, it's kinda hard to only pay for 1 of the accounts. and the beer drinking was with friends on vent. if you've never played a game of power-hour during HNM camping, you have never played the game. what the hell makes you think you know me well enough to think i spent that time eating junk food and sitting on my ass? i spent the majority of my time afk doing other stuff, which is why i ended up quitting in the end.
GL to you in XIV, but i still won't be seeing you in it lol

How is it hard to control how much time you play it? You don't wanna d s omething don't do it, leave at least 30m before you leave a party to try and find a rep. If you need to go you need to go, don't have to play if you are needed somewhere in RL.

That's what i'm doing too. I didn't want to play FFXI on PS2 just because it was purely standard def, but with FFXIV being high def and having a bigger TV, I can MMO in the comfort of my suede leather couch.

Lastly, I like to surf the web and IM or check e-mail while playing games. I don't want to have to turn back and forth between TV and PC. :[
But sadly... I'll have to buy a PS3 for FFXIII and vXIII anyway... -______-

Lucky for me, my comp is right next to my TV that has the PS3 connected to it; so i can play XIV and, when it comes out, ToR at the same time lol
