I know a few who would like one, but just can't squeeze one in their budget (at least now). I was lucky and got my PS3 as a gift.

If people can't afford $300 for a next gen console, something tells me they also won't be able to afford a new computer that will play FFXIV at any frame-rate but "slideshow".

/facepalm

I've had the same computer for a few years and i've yet to buy any game that it won't play very well. Not to mention, everyone's financial situations are not always consistant. Remember the recent recession we had? Some people are still suffering from it or trying to come out from the burdens that it caused. Some would love a Playstation 3, new computer or *insert high priced item here* but they have to prioritize themselves.

Just because mommy got you one for Christmas doesn't mean everyone else should have one.

Buying a game every so often or paying a small monthly fee is different than a large money dump. You know just as well as I do that there will be people who will get FFXIV and play it on their PCs which will play it sub-par as well. I am one of the lucky ones who will have it for PS3 as I got mine from my gf for Christmas. I have a RL friend who plays XI and wouldn't mind playing XIV but not sure if he can because his ex-wife is spending her boyfriend's money for a lawyer to squeeze excess child support from him so she can buy things for herself :(

And if they 'prioritize' by buying a $500+ gaming computer when they're going through hard times, they should have their food stamps revoked. A computer that's a few years old isn't going to cut it with the next generation of games, unless it has undergone numerous customizations and modernizations as time wore on. My computer was pretty top-notch when I built it a few years ago; now, it's falling apart so badly that I doubt it could even handle FFXI anymore. You're always welcome to download a 3D benchmarking application and test it yourself, although I know you won't admit to the rude repudiation of your backwards claims if and when you do.

Again, if they can't afford a console, they won't be wasting money on a (generally) more expensive computer, at least not on one that will be able to handle graphically intensive games at an acceptable level of play. The number of people who happily chanced upon an extensive gaming rig right before their finances took a dive and before they ever bought a 360/PS3 are a minority so infinitesimal that I'm going to go ahead and preemptively laugh at you for an idea you will no doubt continue defending.

Who said anything about buying a $500+ gaming computer while they're going through hard times? If you have a computer that's a few years old and it's "falling apart," then i'm going to bet that you bulit a very cheap system. Mine is a few years old and still going perfectly strong. Never had a crash or anything. Just gotta be smarter than the computer and be wise when buying the components. People who buy cheap parts and wonder why their system has problems make me /facepalm.

As I said before, noone said anything about "buying a new computer" when they're going through hard times. Either you're putting words in my mouth, or your reading comprehension was far worse than I thought.

Do yourself a favor and actually read posts or wake up before replying.

ATI Radeon HD 5970 [Can I haz it?]

P.S. Upgrading an existing computer to run resource-intensive newer games is usually cheaper than buying a brand new game console. Unless you're really hardcore and going for something like I linked to above, then obviously you have money to blow, and you can still upgrade in the future.

yeah, cause we all know that what is said on alla can be taken as 100% true. I bet if it said "SE is gonna purchase Microsoft" you'd prolly believe that as true too.

Then stop ranting, and gtfo. Post something +1 instead of your negative shit. And PS3 is $299 not $199, were not talking about 360's or Wii.
