Features of the two mini-expansions/scenarios

I have just returned to FFXI and noticed there are two mini-expansions or scenarios (Crystalline Prophecy and Kupo D'tat or something like that.) and I was curious

1) What items/spells/equipment is gained from these that are good/hard to pass up?
2) Does it help with leveling spots, money making or faster travel?
3) Can a 50SMN enjoy most things or is this aimed for higher players, or for large groups?

Just wondering if I should put the money down on these or just wait for Shantotto Ascension (since it'll be new I should be able to get in on the action)

Save yourself time and money and don't bother with them at all. They offer very little for the cost.

You're paying $10 per expansion for very little content, and a single item with a selection of augments you can get. You will not be able to complete them until you have a 75 job, and even then, the party needs to back you up well enough. There are a multitude of threads concerning the equipment you win at the end (generally on per piece per job forum) which break down the benefits and try to argue the best augments for that particular job. The benefits for pet jobs (BST, SMN, and PUP) are quite nice.

Having said that, until you have a 75, you'll not clear the final mission, and I'm not sure how desirable SMN is for Kupo d'état, but I recall Predator Claws as decent damage on the final boss of ACP.

The mini-expansions are nothing but a series of quests in already existing zones. Most of the mindless fetch quests should be soloable at your level, and they are repeatable, but there's not a lot of reason to do so. It's basically something you'll do once then forget about. If you do bother with it, you might as well wait until you're 75 and just rush through it and hope to Altana that you can find a party for the 2 BCNM for each mini-expansion.

the activation codes for those compilations are not separate by expansion and you will find yourself pissed off with codes you purchased that you cannot use. FYI.

People complain that the expansion doesnt give enough content for the price..
8-12 missions, new gear.

Yet people still pay $50 for a little necklace that gives them an in-game coat to wear, and comes with no content.

If your in the HNM scene, you probably do the 6 same events over and over and over again every week with your linkshell, and you pay $12/mo for it... yet $9.99 for actual new content is "too much" ?

You can't make money off of these expansions. You can make money from NOT getting it AND paying $12.95 a month via the time you save from doing this nonsense and farming instead.
