I like this idea as then one would be able to create a true Paladin-style Gladiator. Ofcourse Id hope there are limitations as well because we all know how broken some combinations would become haha.

The limiting factor would be stat heavy abilities and combat equations. Think about it:
If You want to be a Paladin, firstly you have to train up Gladiator (With a focus on shield abilities) and Thaumaturge (healing). From there, all of your EXP has to go into (assuming everything works roughly the way it did in FFXI, but more raw stat focused): HP > VIT > MND > > MP > STR > AGI--- You can't pour your points into the damage dealing stats because it would hinder your defenses, MP, HP, and evasive abilities. This works both ways as focusing on attack power and black magic would limit the points you can put into defensive measures. There's going to be a Physical Level cap, and after that cap, you'll only be able to play with the distribution of your points to be as effective as possible. The difference between this and FFXI being that you're free to do whatever you want with your stats - be they from equipment or level points, rather than having carved out limits on the things you do.
If you've ever played Ragnarok Online, you can appreciate how this is the single best system as you have ungodly amounts of control over how your character feels. I really hope AGI extends to attack speed and Dex extends to casting speeds -- This game is already impressive, but that would put it overboard as the best MMO I've ever seen.
