Quit WoW for a while now, playin a bit of Aion while waiting on FFXIV. Sup rock ;)

Laz and Erg, my two favorite people! :D

When I first started in FFXI I met Laz early on and iirc you was kinda hesitant about a Warrior tank as a healer White Mage but after I tanked good once or twice you was sold and we had like a mini-static going on for a few levels. That was awesome, especially for a Warrior like me who didn't get many invites. And when I first started WoW I met a Priest named Lazerus who chilled with me for a few levels as healer. I actually had to ask the guy if he was you because it was a weird coincidence. <:)

And Erg man what's good man? Wanna thank you again for helping me out when we played together that time, my time on that server woulda sucked so much more if you weren't there. Before you quit did tear people up with Lava Burst and Spirit Wolves or did you move on to another class? I know I personally came a long way from my Crystalforged Waraxe days but I always make time to keep STV on their toes >;]. Far as Aion though, I was gonna try it out but decided against it at the last moment; how is the game? I know it's no WoW-killer but is it good? Everyone I talk to about it just calls it a grindfest but those're WoW fanboys so I don't take them too seriously. And FFXIV.. who's not waiting on it? ;]

Anyway nice to hear from you guys. ^^

ya, rock, i did end up being best in slot for a while on the sham until the instance after ulduar came out. I had quit by then. Aion is a crazier grindfest than FFXI imo cause most ppl play solo, so it's a boring experience. I quit that also. I did pick up Dragon Age: Origins though and it is a freaking blast ! You have to try it out. Now i'm debating which race/job to gun for in FFXIV

Been forever since I came to these forums since I quit FFXI for WoW nearly 3 years ago, but I'll join the discussion to see if any familiar faces come by.

I'm still playing WoW on my new character a Feral Druid. Formed a 2v2 with this one dude and hopefully should be breaking 1800 soon, prolly not but I'm working on it. Loving this class, I got the power, speed and endurance all in one spec. I like to just go start stuff in world PvP to see how many dudes I can take down before I get dropped myself. I got no more love for FFXI, not even curious to logon and see how things are going. I still have my account but all the reasons I quit for are still in the game so I'm just gonna stick with WoW.

What WERE the reasons you quit, Rocky?

Well I left the first time because I couldn't play at the time, didn't have no internet and moved to a place where I couldn't get it for a while. Played WoW in the meantime at a friend's house since playing FFXI there wasn't realistic. Then when I had the chance to play FFXI again in the comfort of my home I came to realize that I just moved past it. Nothing against FFXI in general, just that compared to WoW it felt like I was going back to the N64 after playing 360 all day. The battle system, the PvP, the endgame, etc. Everything felt inferior to WoW by comparison.

When I was waiting in line for Ballista to start and saw only like, 7 people show up I knew what little PvP this game had was dead. When I was in a merit party only pressing L1 and then X to hit my weapon skill every so often I was reminded of active Warrior was in WoW with the strafing, kiting and tons of staple abilities like Mortal Strike, Rend, Overpower, etc. And when I stood in Dragon's Aery for like 2 and a half hours doing jack shit the whole time only to get Fafnir, see no drop and expect this as the norm I could only think that this was an elaborate prank by the developers. I mean they made a game based on standing in one spot for 3hrs. AND PEOPLE ACTUALLY DO IT. And then there was Dynamis.

Ohhh man Dynamis. Dynamis is the reason why I can't enjoy raiding in WoW, it just brings back too many repressed memories of those San d'Oria and Xarcabard farms. I just can't stay in one spot for too long knowing full well I can't leave until it's over. In WoW despite PvE being lol, you actively fight and have many boss encounters each dropping something good(long as it's current). In FFXI you have a fuckton of loot pinatas that you hit and hope they drop something relevant to the people actually there. There's bosses there yes but they're as much a joke as the swarms of mobs is. You wouldn't even know they were bosses unless you looked at the guy's name. The final straw was when I just decided to wander the world and went to Cape Terrigan. I saw a rabbit and decided to hit it with a Mighty Strike weapon skill to see how hard I can hit it. The rabbit kicked my ass, I barely won with like 300 or 700 HP and had to sit and heal for like a couple minutes. In WoW I used to kill rabbits as I traveled somewhere just because they were there. That's when I was like man, fuck this and reactivated.

I love FFXI to death but I also loved Goldeneye. I went to play Goldeneye recently and after playing Halo 3 I just couldn't get past the old style of playing. All those memories of chilling in my room with like 6-7 friends rotating the controller, squinting at my little corner on my fatback TV were shattered when nostalgia was peeled away and I had to face the facts that I'm playing an outdated game. Doesn't mean that it's a bad game though, just means that it's old and I moved on. Some games though are timeless. I still play Sonic 2-4(I don't care what they say, S&K was StH4) to this day aswell as Street Fighter III and a few other choice games. Final Fantasy XI is not one of those games.

So lemme reiterate, I still got love for FFXI; hell I actively defend it when people bad mouth it on the WoW forums but I just don't see myself playing it again. It's not even that I have too much invested in WoW, it's just that I find WoW a ton more enjoyable. Mainly in the PvP department. PvP as in battlegrounds and what not though, I don't really enjoy arena all that much even though I do know my way around a pillar or two. ;)

tldr.

Just kidding Rock! The game is much better now than it was before. Yeah, its showing its age (mostly in the graphics department), but its better than WoW in every aspect now except PvP. FF14 will definitely be the winner, though.

After playing Warrior for so long I guess I just needed a change. Feral Druid feels like the best of all worlds, I can tank, heal, do damage, I have stealth and I have some sweet utilities like Roots and Cyclone. All in all, it's everything I could want in a class. On top of that I get to look like a sweet ass Indigo Panther during it all. ^^
