Summoner

A new ability will be added for summoners, and with it, a brand new way for these masters of forbidden magic to lend their powers to party battles.

Avatar's Favor (Lv.55 Recast Time: 5 minutes Duration: 2 hours)
Channels the avatar's power towards a beneficial status effect for party members within range. Reduces perpetuation cost while active.

Posted Image

By summoning an avatar while this ability is active, a corresponding beneficial effect from above table will be granted to all party members within range of the avatar. The effect's potency will gradually increase until the avatar is released, and at its peak, can be expected to reach levels equal to those granted by the corsair's lucky number roll.
While multiple favors of the same variety will not be stackable, a single party can benefit from as many types as there are summoners. Furthermore, enhancements received through this ability can be used in conjunction with those received via magic spells, songs, the Phantom Roll ability, and so forth.

Wish Fenrir's Favor was M.Def instead but can't complain. :P

Edit: Do you think avatars themselves will benefit from the favors? This would be really cool.

I'm very satisfied... I like this idea. But the question is- how big of a refresh (stated, that it's near or equal to COR's lucky on Evoker's) - and how long does it take to get there? Could it infact, make Summoner a new refresher (effeciently)? Find out at 6. And... just wow at the absolute pinnacle of icing being on the cake- lowered perp cost. Just wow. I can honestly say for the first time in a long time, SE has made my jaw drop.

Evoker's roll gives 4 mp/tick on an XI roll (5 if a SMN is present) so I'd say that SMN can easily become a BLM's best friend now. I'm assuming that the max will be 4 and not 5 but still... Diabolos can give MAB and Refresh with this as well as dealing some decent damage with Nether Blast. And let's not forget that the ability reduces perpetuation cost, most likely making all our avatars free at 75 with the perpetuation gear. Let's hope these buffs apply to our pets as well but I think SMN will now have a better role in the game. I can see SMN actually being invited for Refresh or other buffs in parties now.
Let's see if we're also getting new avatars this time, we won't know for a few weeks anyway.

Nvm, it actually says Lucky number so it's 3 mp/tick.

For this to truly be effective, the time needed to reach max effectiveness needs to beat the perpetuation cost. If you run out of MP - either through perp or ability use - before the maximum threshold is reached, this ability becomes useless. This maybe why SE will be lowering perp cost while this ability is active. I want to know by how much.

so sombody can cast Refresh and a smn can have diabolos with new abi on and still stack am I reading this right?

Yeah I'm sure its only going to be 3 MP tick @ max, giving it 4 would put smn first in line before brd's / of course not relic horn brds that would be silly!

so from 55+ SMNs is considered a buff job now .. I'm not complaining at all.

You can get Prep-9 @Lv75 (without day/weather) from gear.. With the new JA and any form of MP regain I'm sure our MP won't run out easily. :D

Awesome. I look forward to free avatars..

Avatar's Favor reduces perpetuation cost while active. Depending on how much this is.. we could definitely see some free avatars. With good gear, I'd say definitely Fenrir and Garuda.. and since Diabolos gives refresh, possibily him too...

This just totally changed the way SMN plays. I'm impressed by SE.

Let's not forget that Composure was considered horrible before people found out that it tripled the duration of the buffs while barely increasing the recast timers <.<
I'm quite sure that this perpetuation cost reduction will be pretty powerful and I'm also sure that SMN will be used more often after this. Now we can speculate on the new avatars+ their possible effects with this ability lol.

provided the perp cost reduction works on spirits too, it just made spirit builds so much more powerful..

lets do some perp math here anyway.

Spirits 18 (13 with full merits)
Celestials: 13
Fenrir: 11
Carbuncle: 9

At current eq, max perp down you can achieve unconditionally is:

Main: Nirvana 4
Body: Redingote/Austere: 2
Hands: Nashira 1
Feet: AF+1 1
Ring: 1
Auto-refresh: (1)
total: 9+1

or if you don't include mythic, 8+1.

Carby is already free.
Fenrir 2, Celestial: 4, Spirits 9 (4)
which means carby is free.

Seeing as Avatar's Favor reduces perp cost, if it were 1 perp cost.. it'd bring the perp values to

Fenrir:1, Celestial: 3, Spirits:8 (3)
If you're using reliable conditional perp gear like Smn Doublet, then avatars on their own day..
Fenrir: 0, Celestial: 2, Spirits: 7 (2).

So if AF perp reduction is -1, we already have a conveniently free Fenrir, and I havent even included sanction/sigil/FoV sources of refresh or taking poison

If it were -2,

F:0 C:2 :S: 7 (2)
with Relic body: F:0 C:1 S:6 (1)

garuda would also be free with Karura here.

and if -3

F:0 C:1 S: 6 (1)
w/ Relic body: F:0 C:0 S: 5 (0)

In other words, if it were -3 perp, everything would be free with optimum perp gear on own day.

Anything higher than 3 perp would give unconditionally free avatars with the best perp gear (bar mythic). And from this point on, it'd be better to wear Refresh body on Fenrir or Garuda to get back 1mp/tic...

my math may have some mistakes so excuse me for that... given the figures.. I think a safe value to estimate perp reduction being placed at is -3, which is still amazing stuff because I'd be able to have all avatars free on their day, which allows me to optimize my Avatar Favors if i want to do that.

I think it will be like Light Arts. Reduces Prep Cost by a percentage.. 20% maybe?

I heard from a friend that the JP website states that the JA will weaken avatars, take that with a grain of salt but Id like to know if someone can confirm/deny
on the one hand I agree with Spira completely that even -1 perp cost would be amazing since depending on event I keep garuda out anyways to build TP for Wind Blade but Ive mixed feelings about AV especially if it affects avatars
While having Ifrit melee with double attack to build for Meteor Strike (favourate, Wind Blade was picked for effeciancy) having 5/5 Wind Blade and Meteor strike and losing out on the MAB/MACC with Heavenly Strike/Grand Fall would make me a lil annoyed even if only for a lil while this update is still win
maybe my dynamis leader will let us come Smn to events!

yea.. its stated in all versions (even the english one, altho vaguely) that avatars will suffer from a power loss.. tho we don't know specifically what this 'power' loss is..

and we dont know how big it is either.. I'd say if you're in a situation where your smn is already playing defensively that then JA's negative effect wont affect u at all..

Depending on how much this reduces the prep cost SMN could finally be kick ass in PTs.

God.. Why NA SE likes to be vague?.. They could've said Avatars will be weakened rather than hinting that by saying "Lend" and "Channel" their powers. -_-
