The next version update of FINAL FANTASY XI will be split into the following three parts.

- 1st Part (Oct. 29, 2009)
This will be a version update without maintenance.
* There will be no in-game changes with this version update.

- 2nd Part (Nov. 9, 2009)
This will be a version update with maintenance.

- 3rd Part (During the last part of November) This will be a version update with maintenance.

* We will provide more details on the maintenance and version updates at a later date.

Additionally, the third add-on scenario, available for purchase on Oct. 26, 2009, "A Shantotto Ascension: The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born" will be available for play after the Nov. 9 version update.

Additionally, due to congestion on or around the date of the version update, it may take some time for the contents of "A Shantotto Ascension" to show up in FINAL FANTASY XI after purchase. It is recommended that if you are considering a purchase of "A Shantotto Ascension," you do so before the version update.

i guess were looking at a rather large update if there going to be splitting it up, its not unheard of in xi's history just very uncommon

part 1 getting shantoto and assorted crap into our clients
part 2 the rest of the update

and i am guessing part 3 will contain holiday related crap.. or maybe there going to be throwing us a curve ball and adding in wotg mission related stuff

probably not but i can fucking dream

Notice they don't show the stats on the reward leg gear for Shantotto add on. Most likely because the stats suck, and they want people to buy the add on.

If the stats are at all decent, I will be surprised. But it doesn't matter, since I don't play anymore anyway. I was curious how the final piece of equipment from the add ons would affect PUP, but at this point, I really don't care, mainly because all logic says the stats are going to be laughable. It's a pair of pants, after all.

I will say this though. All three pieces of armor look(visually) surprisingly awesome.

My guess is that since these are likely the penultimate city missions, they're going to have some rather lengthy (and thus large file size) cutscenes involved with them. My guess is the CS for WoTG and the mini-expansion will likely be part of the first update, and we just won't be able to access them until the NPCs are updated to trigger the quests.

The second update will be the standard version update. As for the third, the only thing that I can think of is that they're running out of time to get one of the other features finished (MMM or the new system involving items) and will push that to a later update. Perhaps they're also planning on making any further BST adjustments at that time depending on feedback (yeah, right).

The addons do have some unique/interesting augments, however I am curious as to why they didn't show the possible augments. This will be hard for them to pull off I think considering there's a lot of leg armor.

Byakkos is pretty much top dog for every job that can wear them. 7.5 ACC (15 DEX) and 5% crit is just not going to be beaten by these pants.

I only see these pants being good for jobs without access to Byakkos, or becoming WS onry pants.

I don't think they're going to try to top kitty pants. This add-on seems geared to cater to mages from the looks of it.

Have you even looked at the tank/melee pants? Fucking ugly. Besides, Shantotto & all that jazz, just screams mage.
