First time posting. But I was curious as to what the best augments would be for Selenian Cap and Royal Redingote. for SMN. I'm thinking of doing ACP and MKD final fights again, as I have the Mirke Wardecors and Anwig Salade for my THF, but I hardly play it now that I have SMN at 75. Asking because I had a heck of a time doing ACP11 >.< So I don't want to toss my Mirke Wardecors for something I may not even use~

If it helps, my SMN merits are... 5/5 Avatar Physical Accuracy - 3/5 Avatar Physical Attack. I also do not have any relic, but I do have Yinyang Robe.

that depends on what you going to do with it....

for Royal Redingote i use

Avatar Perpetuation Cost -2
Pet: "Double Attack" +2
Critical hit rate +2%

this is becuase i solo and farm alot with my smn, i seen people with

Pet: Accuracy+15, Ranged Accuracy+15
Attack+15 Ranged Attack+15

and use it macors for the level 70 BP:R

Avatar Perpetuation Cost -2
Pet: Magic Accuracy+7
"Magic Atk. Bonus"+7

is probly the most common and use for the merit BP:R


for the Selenian Cap, i didnt even touch it for my smn, but you might wana think about

Magic Accuracy+3 MP Recovered While Healing +3
Enhances "Fast Cast" effect (+3%) "Blood Pact" ability delay -3

this is very very usefull but if you and can macro the SMN horn or auseter/pena hat instead of getting BP delay -3 get (or a Mirror Tiara for Hmp) replace it with

Accuracy+3 Pet: Critical Hit Rate +3% (if all you do is call BP:R the level 70 bp the release)

Attack+3 Pet: Damage taken -10% (if you kite/solo with your smn)

Accuracy+3 Pet: Haste +5% (if you avatars is left out to melee alot)

MND+4 "Cure" potency +3% (if you find you self spaming cure III alot on your smn)

Ohh man what your asking us is too vague, and the responses you will get will be all personal opinions.

The better question to ask first is..... (and you can ask yourself this)

Physical BP (primary) and Magical BP (secondary)

Magical BP (Primary) and Physical BP (Secondary)


Which is better? It depends on the situation, and what you use summoner for.

I am a Magical primary summoner, so I picked all items that would help with MAB / MACC. I also picked as secondary augments on those items DMG taken -10% and Perp -2


EDIT:

Once you decide on which one you want to be it will be easier to tell you how worth it they are. If you want to be Magical main, then you will for sure want to get the ACP armor etc. There are very few body pieces and items out there that give us MAB.

If you want to be just all physical than those items (IN MY OPINION) are not as worth it as they are for magical BP'ers.

Also if you want to be magical merit those meritable BP's.

if your focusing on Melee BP then Id say Perpetuation -2 and one/or 2 of Pet: Attack+15 / Double Attack 2% / Crit 2% (relic body is crit 3% which you should keep in mind)

I went for perp-2 and MAB/MACC because I went magical, level 70 Bloodpacts are awesome without merits whereas magic needs help but once your done your more varied in types of damage

I actually want to go magical, I just tossed merits into physical for the hell of it. Just wanted to see what Predator Claws was like with Merits into Physical Attack/Accuracy. XP

If you truly do want to be a magical BP'ers then you should really go redo ACP. I personally would get -2 perpetuation and +7 MAB on your RR. We do not get a lot of MAB for our avatars, so it makes this piece very valuable. Another semi easy piece of gear to get is a fay crozier with +3 to MAB. I think thats the highest you can get for MAB on that staff. There are a few other augmentable items to get for MAB, but they are very tough to get.

The other stuff you should try to obtain is smn magic skill gear. Horde as much of it as you can and macro them in for your magic BP's, although dont replace your MAB gear for it. Also the gear will help your siphons as well . Make sure to cap your base skill, and merit Smn magic if you can.


Other things to consider and merit.

Merit those 75 bp's. Fully unlock 2 of them, or do what I did (which may or may not be a good idea) unlock all BPs, and fully merit 1 of them. I went for Ramuh because he is a badass, although looking back on it I may have picked garuda because I typically am using her. Also with her haste ability it helps TP gain to make those 75 BPs extra pwniful.

Readjust those merits. You will want to merit MAB to its fullest, and maybe Macc if you dont have a lot of Smn Magic skill gear. I think the best way to do tier one merits is PATT and MAB, as long as you have the gear to back it up.

PSSSS... ENM lvl 60 ... that solo one... Drops Astral Pot , and its about +20 to MAB when in use. Get it! It's fun.

Alright. As for the Fay Crozier, I have one. It has Avatar Perp -2, Pet: MAB+3. And for Summoning Magic skill+ gear. I have the AF horn, Summoning Torque, and Evoker's Ring. I may actually pick Ifrit's 75 BP 'cause I like him the most. But I'm definitely going to take your advice and work towards that. I just now meritted, Summoning Magic skill level 1, Avatar Magical Attack to level 2 and Avatar Magical Accuracy to 2. I appreciate all the info, opinions and help, thank you everyone.

Yeah... so to obtain the best of the best is a long process, but I think you should start with the basics first like merits, and work you're way to the gear. Obviously get what you can, but focusing on the easy stuff first is probably more beneficial. Dak has some opinions I am sure if he decides to grace this thread with his presence. He is big on magical Bp's as well.

I just have to say this...

The level 75 Magical Bp's when full optimized are very very impressive. I have been able to out nuke a full morri blm under perfect conditions. It just takes a while to get there. I love it, and am happy to get away from predator claws. Well you dont get away from Pclaws.... its more like you get to take a break from P claws from time to time if you go Magical.

I love it, and am happy to get away from predator claws. Well you dont get away from Pclaws.... its more like you get to take a break from P claws from time to time if you go Magical.

Haha yeah, sorry, I have the thread on watch. ^^;; And I'm going to watch a few more Youtube vids on the ENM60, 'cause I don't want to screw up. XD So far it looks easy, but who knows. I have honestly been working my hardest on merits, because I pretty much have the gear I want(aside from relic).

The ENM is pretty easy, but sometimes you can get really unlucky and the mob will astral flow at the worst possible time resulting in your death. If you lose just try again. Once you get your methods down i bet you will always win 90% of the time. I used to do this every week as a form of exp. This was before campaign battles, and summoners didnt get (and still dont get) exp pt invites. I hated soloing in the ule range because the trek out there took so long, and there was high risk of death.

Haha! I might just do that, I've heard alot of extremely nice people are there. As for the ENM, I'm going to try it later today. I feel like meriting some more.

I just use that astral pot for big boss fights. It's fun to pull out Epeen numbers on bosses, and then tell you're blackmages to suck it.
