This isn't as good as I thought it be, I did have a suspicion it would be legs for the 3rd add-on scenario, I think the head piece has been the best. So far the 2 previous pieces in the add-on series I have used both for my RNG. I think I will for this also, I will definitely go with Barrage+1 as long as there is no cap on how many arrows Barrage can use as I already have the AF+1 hands. As my second augment, Range Acc/Atk+ maybe but it would make little difference for Barrage and AF2 legs kind of replace that. Skillchain dmg+ is good but I don't skillchain enough for it to be worth it, RNGs tend not to SC as much as other DDs due to our irregularity of TP gain and plus Hachiryu Haidate with 10+ str would be far smarter for weaponskill. Conserve TP... by +5, if it works similar to Conserve MP, then that is 5% chance that you save 8-15/16 of TP used, don't see the point. Considering I would macro these in only for Barrage, I'm remained with either Crit+ (but would that make a difference with Barrage dmg?) and movement speed+8%, I don't have striders or w.legs and don't really want/need them so the 8% augment would be a bonus with Barrage+1.

gonna do barrage+1 and racc+7/movement+8%, depending on if you can just wear it during the JA use, in which case i would use AF1 legs and get movement+.

if i can't just wear during JA use, i'll have to do racc+7


though i'm curious if this will stack w/ skadi feets for movement+ o.o;

So with these and AFv1+1 hands it's a 7 shot barrage?

If you have to wear them while shotting yeah ACC+7, if not i'm not sure what else to put there. I have skadi feet and the movements don't stack, at least i think they don't. And since i use a gun Skadi legs all the way.

I also have BLM and BRD and the movement speed and DMG down is looking good.....

I think I might go with Barrage +1/Ranged Acc. on the legs for added insurance. Along with +1 hands, just need to macro in AF body and possibly o. hat (depending on the mob) to make up for lost ranged acc. on S. Kotes.

You will regret the 8% movement speed. Really... connect with how low that is. 12%, for me, is often on the border of ruining a lot of kiting I'm doing. 4% loss will even be harsher. Then you have to sum up why a SAM would be kiting anything anyways and if spending ten dollars is worth a situation that might happen once a year? 8% isn't even worth getting just to run around in.

You spend a lot of time running from point A to point B. SAM is a desirable job, so those with it leveled and well-geared tend to play it frequently, and thus run from A to B frequently. SAM is the only job with no access to movement speed gear/spells/JAs (other than nation aketons and Sprinter's, which I'm not counting due to inconveniences associated with both), so a means to get where you're going 8% faster, no questions asked, is great.

Even when my slow-leveling ass hits 75 on RNG, no matter how blinged it is I'm sure I'll be playing SAM significantly more often. I'll get more net benefit from running around 8% faster than I will from an extra Barrage arrow. Assuming I buy the expansion at all.

Anyhow, although I don't think that Barrage +1 is a particularly stellar option, I think you are really overstating the usefulness of movement speed of any kind for someone who is not kiting. With the exception of Dragon's Aery, which I know most players don't go to often, getting somewhere in a hurry is not significantly improved by movement speed because there's very little reason to be running anywhere. Transit in FFXI has become so convenient (for which I'm very grateful) that running more than half a zone should not be a common occurrence.

Really, I'd just skip on spending the $10 altogether if the best you can think to do with these is Movement Speed.

As I explained in the SS thread, I have Aurik Leveling Syndrome. RNG sat at 67 for a while, while I did other things. Since the start of the weekend it's gotten to 71.

I level in spurts and not particularly fast, either, but we were both about the same level like... 3 or 4 months ago!

I've been doing basically everything but leveling RNG, mostly due to not having the time to sit around waiting for an invite (or the people necessary to build a party that won't make me contemplate suicide).

the chances of landing extra hits in barrage gets exponentially worse the more shots you throw at it
that said, most of the options suck anyways unless theres a typo and store tp is supposed to be in there somewhere

Maybe it'd be better to get this instead of AF+1 hands and keep S. Kote on during barrage so you can do without AF body/O.Hat for the extra acc?

Yeah, barrage can be a dick. lol I'm wondering now, as I got the last piece for my AF+1 upgrade in limbus last night, if I should upgrade something other than hands and wait for desultor's to come out and use that as my only barrage+1 piece, or upgrade both and just stack r.acc everywhere else from now on?

I guess the question is: Will the extra damage output from one extra shot be worth the risk of a loss of ranged acc from other slots, or play it safe and save some money and stick to just desultors? Which would result in me upgrading something else with my limbus pieces. I should probably mention I don't have archery or marksmanship merited because I have sword/polearm/scythe merited instead... Though, I've been considering taking scythe and sword merits out to do archery/marksmanship at least 6/8 each. Unless SE surprises us with a combat merit upgrade next week, I doubt it, but that's my plan so far.

actually, they get exponentially less worse. like say you cap accuracy on barrage, that's 5% chance of missing the first hit. it would be a like...9.9% chance of missing one of the first 2 hits, like...14% chance of missing one of the first 3, etcetera

well, i guess you could say it's exponentially worse, because it technically follows an exponential trend that goes steadily downward the more hits there are in multihit ws/barrage, but it's not going like 5 11 18, it's going 5 10 14. it's approximately 69% chance of hitting a 7-hit barrage (same figure for dancing edge /nin) and i hit that pretty frequently on my thf, and there's no way i have capped acc during WS

I'm almost sure the math on that is wrong because the probability related to Barrage is dependent on each preceding shot whereas Dancing Edge consists of 6+ independent calculations.
