So night before last we had a horrible set of thunder storms in the midwest, and lighting grazed my house. I had my PS3 on overnight hitting up my bazaar on Allears as I slept. Next morning before I left the house, I discovered my PS3 had been hit with a massive power surge, transforming it into an expensive paperweight.

Long story short, I have lost everything on my hard drive and my PS3 is done. So I'll see you guys on FF14 when it comes out perhaps. GOD works in mysterious ways.

Anyone who knows Qubic, Dramis, Traviant, Bigbully, Xtcdoll, or Benniged please let them know of my status since I have no other means of contacting them aside from FFXI.

I have 4 surge protectors, and it still did me no good. Freak accident that can happen to anyone. It sucks, yes, but life goes on.

In the process of contacting Playonline now to figure out if they can cancel my account since I can no longer log in. I'm sure it can be done, but no response yet.

Everything happens for a reason, and this is not a pity post. Was simply to inform those on Titan the reason for my abscence. You people from other servers have enough problems to worry about rather then critique this post stating that Mother Nature can SATA your ass at any time.

Lightning > any surge protector. I have literally seen 100,000V systems blown out of the wall from direct strikes. They are great to have but will not save you from a direct hit.

They should be able to, otherwise just make your credit card company bounce the next payment to SE and your account should be 'locked' right away.
Another option since you seem to own a pc too is to download the playonlineviewer/ffxi trial from the playonline website, install that and do the cancelation process from there.
However as today is 'pay day' for SE I'd recommend option #1 as you probably won't be able to access the registration servers today anyway and probably already paid for November now.

Fully understandable, however as an atheïst myself I rather take a discussion like that face to face over a beer or another beverage, instead of on an internet forum.

keeps my shit secure from quick outages, and will run for some 20 minutes after depenging on what I'm running. I'm generally asleep during any planned power outage anyway, but I think the internet still runs as well.

i still dont trust it during a thunderstorm, no amount of home level surge protector is going to stop the force of a lightning strike if its running through the lines.
