Hello everyone, I have posted this thread on BG as well but to my surprise was just told to go kill myself so I now I come to you^^
I am having a difficult time finding the right mix of ra. acc/ra, attk/str for my archery Ranger and am hoping someone may be able to help me out. I play on ol' reliable PS2 so do not have access to a parser. Hopefully I will give you all the relevant information you may require. Thank you very much in advance.
The area's I am most concerned with are Limbus & Sea - Nyzuls to a lesser extent. I merit on BRD or RDM. I am a Mithra with 8/8 Archery merits and 0/5 STR merits (they are coming next). I do not get any outside acc buff's and I would prefer to eat C. Subs instead of the Pot-au-fue (but will if I need to). Also, I hate blinking so I am shooting for a good set-up for both TP and Sidewinder.
My current gear is as follows:
Main - Kreigsbeil
Sub - Fransisca
Ranged - E-Bow
Ammo - Demon
Head - Optical Hat
Neck -Qiqirn Collar
Ear - Triumph
Ear - Triumph
Body - Kirin's Osode
Hand - Seiryu's Koye
Ring - Behemoth NQ
Ring - Rajas
Back - Amemet +1
Waist - Precise Belt
Legs - Hachiryu Haidate
Feet - Hachiryu Sun-ate
I have Wyvern Helm, Flame Ring, Jungle Sash (mit +4 str) & PCC available to change any of the relevent slots. So, I guess my 1st question is - Is my current set-up too light on Acc or too light on STR/Attk? Ideally, I would like to add more STR where possible and switch to /sam or /war to use Vulcans & Axe grip. I am also working on a Hope Torque so that will be my final neck piece (i'm assuming?)
Please help me if you can, Ranger equipment and accuracy just really confuses me. Thanks again!

I am just asking for help. If your suggestion is to swap and blink then please tell me which items. I blink non-stop on BRD and RDM. I didn't say I wouldn't do it, I said I hate it. Ranger acc and equipment confuses me especially w/ the inaccurate nature of Sidewinder.
Obviously I could add a boat load more STR in a WS macro - but do i have enough acc to make it worthwhile?
Everything I read says - "+STR for Sidewinder.....assuming good acc of course"
I do not know what is the typical amount of + ra. acc for TP/WS. I thought I was asking a clear enough question, I apologize if I didn't. If I had the ability to parse and figure it out on my own then I would sure try.
Any help you can give would be appreciated.
Thanks again

It all depends on what ur fighting. if u find ur missing alot mix match ur pieces until u can land sidewinder sucessfully. Always remember, any dmg > 0 dmg.

Ya... this would be the first change I'd make unless zerging. Use pot-au-feu, dear god especially if you're feeling like you need to WS in Ohat with meritted Archery. /shudder
I can totally see Nyzul & Limbus, but why /NIN in sea? Definitely try /SAM in sea, and I'd suggest Limbus too... which only strengthens the arguments for pot-au-feu, since you'll lose more R. Acc from Axes.
Also, I'm gonna agree with above and recommend getting over blinking. If you're not blinking on RNG at least between TP/WS, you're doing it wrong imo. Feet & Head look like good options to start swapping visibly for you, although there's obviously a lot more you could do to maximize.
One last thing... can't stress this enough... Sea Gorget, Sea Gorget, Sea Gorget! Srsly

only thing you really ought to look into is your belt and possibly your hat and legs.
Belt:
Scouts Belt
Buccaneer's Belt
Royal Knight+2 (this is actually the best waist option when in a conquest area that is under your nations control)
hat:
Optical is good with regard to the range accuracy bonus but there are other options...
Hunters Beret
Turtle Barbut
Anwig hat with rng acc/attk modifications.
legs:
8Dragons (hachiryu) is going to be your best option with regard to Weapon skills.
though you might want to look into Scout's Legs for TP.
your set up is attack heavy I assume you hit big numbers but might have some range accuracy issues time and again.

with regard to DMG yes the RK+2 in a conquest area under your nations control will give you slightly larger return in dmg than Scout's. Used as a macro piece for WS and not to TP in, of course.

I'll take your word for it, though I'm guessing the emphasis is on the word "slightly". I just get confused when folks use the word "best". Since accuracy does seem to part of the OP's concern, I remain confident in my assertion that Scout's Belt pwns.
