Hi, everyone. I'm a long-time browswer, first-time poster, so I come here pleading for some guidance and knowledge.
I'm currently at level 30 with my PLD, and I'd have to say that I'm having lots of fun. I've always wanted to be one, and it's certainly living up to my expectations. However, as of late, I've been getting really frustrated during many of my EXP parties.
The reason for this is that isues w/ lag, due to large numbers of other PTs in the are making it near impossible for me to do even the simplest of things. Just yesterday I was in Kazham with 3 RDMs, a THF, and a DRK, and because of the enormous latency, (around 1200 for some time) it was hard for me to even engage the mob, let alone throw off my vokes, or cast my CureIIs without getting interrupted.
Needless to say, I was getting very mad at the situation, and myself. Is this something that I'm gonna have to deal with? How do I handle situations such as these? It literally looks like a slideshow when I'm fighting these things, and all my PT does is yell at me for not being able to keep up. Maybe it's just cuz I do suck, but I can't help but feel that the lag is to blame. = For all you vets out there, please throw me some advice, because it's almost to the point where I want to hang up the sword and shield for good and end my account.
I'm just wondering what the best way to handle this. Better macro set-ups perhaps? The only advice I've been given was to "Spam your voke after 20 secs..." That says nothing of how to throw off my CureIIs w/o the mob interrupting me. YEEEARGH~! HELP!

1) well if the lag is that bad, it's not your skill at fault
2) kazham always has lots of lag, you'll be outta there in 2 lvls
3) try lowering your resolution, turn the weather off, and switch on your chat filter to block out 'other's attacks' 'other's missed attacks' and 'other's special abilities' that will significantly lower the amount of lag you get

Well lag isn't really something you can contend with unless you either A. upgrade your modem/computer/connection and or B. lvl in a different area which is not so crowded. I'm sure you don't want to spend a lot of money upgrading your comp and stuff so I would recommend looking for a different place to fight. East Altepa is a good place that doesn't have TOO much lag (it does have at times) so you might wanna try there. However, eventually you will have to go to high density areas and it's really up to you if you want to put up with the lag cuz there is no real escape from it ^^;

I dont know your system but if it seems to appear when you fight among other people and that if feels like the delay is high.
Your playing on servers that is on the other side of the world (more or less). If your connection is slow, try to get another one. if your sharing connection with someone that is uploading or downloading at the same time, beat the crap out of the otha guy.
Could also be the system your on, try a friends computer (asuming he got a better one), change graphic cards or processor if needed.
else.. cast flash before a cure, there is a big risk the mob will miss you when flashed. (yes flash refresh isnt fast). Also cure yourself when you see the mob starting an attack, not when you see him hit you, then your too late. or asume when he is about to hit you.
Haven't seen any settings myself for connection within the game adjusting the "datarate".
Best of luck with your connection to JP servers.

hey man sorry bout that, lag hurts. my latency is rarely over a few hundred but i still get lag on my casting startup sometimes. just practice with timing till you find something that seems to work.

Well my computer should be up to spec. I just threw in an extra 256mb or ram, and a new ATi vid card, so I'm not gonna blame the comp. I'll try fiddling w/ the chat filters and the graphics options, though. Thx for the input. I'm starting to consider the fact that mebbe it's the fairy server? Man, i'm not about to switch to another server and start over. Lawd, that would suck.
