So my old 360 redringed to death and i went out and bought a new elite yesterday along with a copy of ffxi ultimate collection. A friend of mine who also recently bought a new 360 told me that the newer models are having problems with FFXI and the disc being able to be read if you log off innapropriately. He told me he doesnt even log his character off anymore in fear of him having to re install ffxi again. Playonline even gives u this warning before u can play lol warning --->

"Typically, many users of the Xbox 360 version of FINAL FANTASY XI will shut down the game via the "Xbox Guide Button" located on the controller. However, we have confirmed an issue where if you attempt to shut down via the "Xbox Guide Button" while the PlayOnline Viewer and/or FINAL FANTASY XI is running, it may cause the Xbox 360 to not be able to properly read the disc.

Until this issue is addressed, we ask that you shut down the PlayOnline Viewer through the "Exit Viewer" option and FINAL FANTASY XI through the "Shut Down" option in-game.

For users who are experiencing the issue, please contact Xbox Support for assistance.

I contacted them and they couldnt help, 3x I called lol.

Does anyone that have a new 360 or know anything about this have any info on how to work around this? Would be very much appreciated. Hopefully they resolve this issue asap so i can just enjoy whats left of ffxi XD

This happened to me. I seemed to solve the problem by running FFXI straight from the hard drive, using the new-ish 'Install to HDD' option. I went into my games library and selected PoL from there, instead of running the disc as normal. Has worked fine since.

it just tells me that harddrive installation of this game isnt supported when i try to install it to the hdd lol how do u do it?

I've been told some people re-install FFXI. I have this problem with ANY wings of the goddess disc for 360, my 360 just wont read them (I have 2 copies). The old ToAU disc works np though. Also, my problem started after a thunder storm shut my 360 off, and I have yet to have a WoTG cd to work since.
