Botanist!

So on the offical site, they have under disciples of land the "job" Botanist. In the description of the "a day in the life" thing they say that the guy switches to a disciple of the land and catches fish. I'm guessing fisherman might be another disciple specifically from the land, under which this is the only other one we might know of. So what are the speculations for this disciple? I would be really pumped if this was an alchemy type job that everyone wanted in FFXI where you can gather items from the area and make new items to poison a mob or temp buff a party. If this could be the kind of perfect back up job I would fall in love with it. That's just my thoughts on it though, it could always just end up being the technical name of the "job" you take up to do things like logging, harvesting, etc.

What does everyone else think?

Botany doesn't mean alchemy.

Botany is the growing and cultivation of plants.

It's flower pot farming.

Random Idea: Fight like Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho? (Plant power)

It's a half serious comment >.>

Yeah it's probably both this and gathering/identifying any plants in an open zone.

It would be kind of cool if levels in Botany gave you certain bonuses against plant-type monsters, i.e. my Marauder gets extra critical chance against a Morbol because I have Botany maxed out.

Yeah...I got to excited before stopping to think about it, and just made a thread. Story of my life.

Botanist will be like in WoW when you go out and collect various flora and fungi of the realm.

I would like that, if they could also play a role in a party. Like, I don't know, if they can use an axe to attack and the herbs they collect to do minor dmg and heals. I just think that'd be neat-o. But I think all of them should be able to attack a little, like cooks use a knife, blacksmith a hammer, etc.

I must be one of the few who don't really want Disciples of Land or Hand going to combat. . . If you have base universal stats that increase for each of those jobs when you are on it that'd be okay, so you can do some running around while on them, but as for using a crafting class like an adventuring class I just don't see the appeal.

Well they said they wanted to do something with blacksmith so that it can give some combat bonus if in a group of people, maybe other hand/land classes can give different bonuses?
