[That Nene Anegasaki, she's a charmer. She's also a video game character from extreme dating sim Love Plus, now wedded to a flesh and blood gamer.

The two were married when a man brought his DS along with a copy of Love Plus to a church in Guam. There's no word on honeymoon plans, but the two will be holding a small reception for family, close friends and the internet on November 22nd. (Seriously, there will be a webcam and stuff.)

It just goes to show, the power of Woman has no bounds. Stick her in a digital fortress, simplify her beauty to Nintendo DS rendering limits and give her a shrill, anime voice. Woman will triumph all the same.

Edit:

here is a video with the ceremony

Video game wedding: a letter and photos from the bride and groom
Posted Image
I received an e-mail from Sal9000, the man who married his video game girlfriend on Sunday. Here's a translation of the letter he sent me, along with some photos:

Dear Ms. Katayama,

Thank you very much for watching our wedding ceremony online. Because of your blog post, we received some comments from what appeared to be international viewers, and we were very happy about that.

I had heard before the groom is very busy during a Japanese wedding, but this was much more than I expected!

Posted Image

Both the actual wedding space and the livecasting web site were full on the day of — I'm so happy so many people were able to witness this. There were over 3,000 connections and 7,000 comments made online, and the people who showed up in person at the ceremony also offered their congratulations. It was great.

Now that the ceremony is over, I feel like I've been able to achieve a major milestone in my life. Some people have expressed doubts about my actions, but at the end of the day, this is really just about us as husband and wife. As long as the two of us can go on to create a happy household, I'm sure any misgivings about us will be resolved.

Posted Image

As for what's next, we still haven't gone to see my parents, so we will be going home together on New Years to officially announce our marriage.

Posted Image

The two of us hope to continue to let our love for each other grow as time goes on.

Sincerely,

SAL9000 & Nene Anegasaki

Since when can you not touch a pillow? Also, this sounded cooler from the title than what I thought it'd be. Marrying a video game that you love is nerd awesomeness. Marrying a digital woman is pathetic. Laughter eluded me...

I do believe that wooshing sound you hear above your head is the joke. Having missed it qualifies you for "retard" status.

Was expecting this:
Marry video game, divorce video game, gain half possession of properties and revenue

That guy must really be counting on solid-holographic technology coming out in his lifetime... or hope the game company doesn't take serious legal action against him.

Really now? He married a character within the game that he created, not the title itself. There's no legal action for the company to take, laws haven't evolved to this kind of stupidity yet. I'd love to watch the video game company sue him just to flounder in the dirt when the judge says "So what?"

As long as its not a dude. I say probably.
But if you pop it during a wild night, you may get a homicide charge.

Oh, Cordy's rubber woman could take it hard all night long. After all, she was inspected by Agent 69 for quality assurance.

So if he talks to a real woman, does that count as cheating?

Has talking to the opposite sex ever been considered cheating?
Now maybe if he was playing PSP with another woman...
