Last week I (finally) had my account restored. I got all my dynamis currency back too, back to 64% done with my gjallarhorn.
I remember why I left carbuncle, now wondering if there is any reason to come back here or look for another server. Whats the HNM scene like here? Any hardcore lowman HNM groups?
the NA HNM scene here? that's right i'm back biotches

Only HNM shells I can remember off the top of my head are Epic and Terrabyte.

Well those are the only ones off the top of my head, but yeah Carby's endgame is pretty much slim pickings for HNM

Nope! Sure didn't! I don't test other people's broken games for free, plus most game companies tend to not let people at other game companies in on their beta anyway.
I restored my account in like august and didn't check on it again until november after I found some asshat stole it

This is actually untrue, considering i work in the games industry too. Other game companies usually give preference to people already working in the industry due to their knowledge of gameplay mechanics, as well as engine-related bugs. Considering we can see a bug and PROBABLY give a really good indication as to what it's relating to, as well as document the exact step it took us to recreate that bug, i'd say it's in their best interest to let us test their games rather than some teenie bopper who "likes to play gamez".

hi dimi and everyone
I don't know what company you work for as an entry level contract tester monkey palidor, but the companies I have been involved with tend to filter them out. Open beta is a joke anyway, real bugs only come from your QA department.

What Ghanima says is actually true.
To be honest Open-BETA testing is more marketting, performance testing on the client side and feedback. Unless you have an articulate mind for detail or are trained in the industry, no average player would spot a programming issue from a mile away.
The marketting side comes from getting some players to test the game, however if all goes well these players reccomend it to their friends. The performance part is for everyday computers and Internet connections and not top range computers the company may have, may be it works on their computers but no guarantee it works on the client side effectively. With regards to feedback, thats more cosmetic on where the user want to have certain items changed, spelling/grammar issues and so on.
Out of all that the only one in my opinion which stands out is the marketting part, this seems more feasible than some everyday guy off the streets who only knows of games and doesn't know a thing about testing them.

lolDamo,
Please refrain from commenting on an industry that you have absolutely no education about. Thank you.
And ghanima, are a you a tester or something? Because that doesn't count...

Aww Palidor, get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning?
Why don't you do some studying yourself? No clue about the industry? Gamer since the age of about four years old, training to become a Games Programming and looking to get into the Quality Assurance side of the industry as well as understanding the fundamentals of how marketting works... Yeh I don't know fuck all!

Damo,
Studying to learn about the games industry is much than actually being IN it. It's also different being an Indie developer, or starting your own corp. to make games. Until you actually work in the industry, your guess as how it all works is just that: a guess. It's all politics, and the arrogant ass's don't make it very far.
Which is why i'm doing well, because i was never an arrogant ass that thought he was better than others. I just pointed out all the arrogant ass's and brought them to light for everyone lol I still get thank you's for Duck Hunt, and all the good memories, distributing the bank to the members when it broke, and booting people like you that brought down everyone's mood.
But that's not what this about lol This about you thinking that you are in the games industry where you are just studying. I know many people that I went to school with, or saw go through school, for the same thing. The funny thing is, the assholes didn't get jobs :-) So good luck with that, sir. I'm out on this speculation thread lol

Oh Palidor how you don't change...
Your first comment had some backbone to it and had merrit in reading it. Yes this is true, I don't work in the games industry as it currently stands, however when it comes to BETA testing a game would you really trust people who possible have no clue how to quality check a game. Added to this that most people lied on their applications?
With regards to your other paragraphs though, I skim read them when I seen you were going off on a tirade of emoraging proportions. So how does it feel to rise to the bait again?
You know what... I am going to emorage right now and say I am going to quit FFXI and leave KillingIfrit for ever... Oh noes... One of them has been done so it really means theres no point in the second. I hope you are starting to learn Palidor that I am not 'as' immature or that perpetulant brat I was a few years ago. However, I still like winding you up and making you respond to threads so some of my immaturity still exists.
